A top 5 pick is looking farther and farther away each game

What do you want, wins or a top 5 pick?

We shouldn't even think about the draft until the season ends. It's incredibly annoying to see "fans" whining because we're winning.

Also, I'd rather see that this team has character and plays with heart even though they are in a bad situation and having a 10-15th pick than seeing them giving up and getting Jones. Seeing the way they play right now makes me hopeful for the future. Our core is incredibly great and will continue to improve.

I can see them riding this 3 game win streak and beating TOR so I see:

TOR - W
WPG - L
NYI - W
OTT - L
BUF - W
MTL - L
NYR - L
NJD - L
CAR - W
BOS - L
NYI - L
OTT - L

I can see 1 or 2 of those losses being in over time but based on my assumption, what do you guys think?

Our core of forwards are very promising, we have NO defense though. I want this team to be a stanley cup contender. With the defense we have, there's no chance. With essentially no one in free agency, were gonna need to be able to draft /or trade. This team has too many flaws, for me to get excited about this team.

This defense isn't as bad as some think here. Losing Timonen will hurt, though. We'll need to fix this issue. That doesn't justify wanting to lose.

Lets not get too swayed to one side of the spectrum here; were 4 points from the 8th spot, but were also 5 from the last spot, and as we all know, it's easier to lose ground than it is to gain ground.

I still don't think we're making the playoffs. Too many teams to jump over with less injuries and better defenses. I do fear that well end up in 10th or so...

But now with rinaldo out, looks like our lineup is now

Read-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Simmonds
Gagne-Couturier-Knuble
McGinn-Hall-Rosehill

Timonen-Schenn
Gustafsson-Huskins(Grossmann)
Lauridsen(Huskins)-Gervais

Bryzgalov
Mason

I don't see that squad winning 9-10 of the last 12games...I see

@TML---- L
@WPG--- W
@NYI----- L
OTT------- L
@BUF---- W
@MTL---- L
NYR------- L
NJD------- L
@CAR---- W
BOS ------ L
NYI-------- W
OTT------- W

I think tonights Toronto game is the key. A win tonight and I can see them winning the next 5.
WPG is slumping.
The Flyers own the Islanders.
I have no idea how Ottawa wins with that lineup but the Flyers beat them last time.
Buffalo has half a team left.
Montreal is a toss up. The Flyers will probably lose but I think Montreal is the same as always: small fast team that gets physically dominated late in the season.
Rangers guaranteed loss. Devils pretty much the same but they are slumping bad too.
Carolina Win
Boston loss.
Islanders win.
Ottawa toss up. Depends on who has more riding on the game.

That's my view if they win tonight, so 8-4 with a possibility of 9-3. A loss tonight and it could spiral them back to the bottom.

Flyers have 7 of their 12 games on the road and their road record has been crap. Out of their 5 at home they have the Rangers and Devils, two teams they have problems with.

3 wins at home and fans turn a little too optimistic for my taste.

Although a top 5 would be nice, it's amazing to see the resilience of this team. We are literally dropping like flies out there but the team fights is ass off. It's okay when you lose because you lack skill and talent, but the flyers still have that with all the injuries. When my team loses because of lack of effort and desire to win, i i have a problem with that. Shows a lot of character, especially their captain. People weren't happy with giroux scrapping it up in front of the net last night, I loved it. It shows the fight he and this team needs to display. You dont complain about the captain Going at it there, you punch in a goal to tie it for him. Show him that his emotional lift sparked the team.

It's seems earlier this year they were a fragile team, but with gagne and Knuble back into the mix they seem to have gained confidence. Gagne is known as a leader so his presence in the locker room is a welcomed addition. We might not make the playoffs, but the team hasn't given up on the season. As a flyers fan and a fan of hockey I can be proud to represent the team.

I will say though I'm afraid the injuries will start to catch up to them. There really is only so many plugs this team can put in until they start playing that way. Not saying the guys are bad players, but youngsters like the Great Dane, Gus, mcginn(seems to already be hitting that rookie wall a little) probably won't keep it up. Now I'm not saying its impossible, but realistically I don't see them maintaining their play. With huskins, gervais, Knuble, and so on playing some bigger minutes, I feel like we might be just out of the race. One thing though is like I said before, I love the fight this team has demonstrated.

What's the point of being pessimistic? You will probably be right but much more miserable for it. Have some hope and enjoy the ride.......which could very well end tonight.

I hope for a cup. It will not happen this year. Even by some miracle they make the playoffs, injuries and goaltending will not get them through. I hope for a top player at the draft and to win the cup ASAP. That's it.

I want a cup, and a top 5 pick in this draft will most likely be way more helpful in doing that than whatever pick we get for finishing in 9th place in the East. Even if they make the playoffs, the team is way too banged up, and the goaltending too poor for them to make a run. If they did it'd be an absolutely amazing feat. The defense is an old all-star, and a bunch of kids and vet 6's and 7's. It's not going to cut it in the playoffs.

What sucks worst is that they had a chance to improve the team going forward by shipping guys out at the deadline, but couldn't because of the injuries. I don't want to be stuck in the middle, which is where I fear the team is headed unless Schenn and Couts take major steps forward next year. Even then, we still have the problem with the defense that needs to be addressed.

If we are in the 10 range, what is it going to take to get to number 5?

If we stay at 10 we have a shot at Pulock.

If we get to 5 We can get Nurse

Even if we don't get 7 to 10, maybe try to trade up to it? The question is, what with?

I think Nurse will probably go at 8th overall. Out of Colorado, Calgary, Tampa, Buff, Florida, Phoenix, Dallas, and Carolina, and can only see one team definitely taking a defenseman in Colorado. Calgary, Florida, Phoenix and Dallas all need forwards bad. Buffalo and Carolina could go either way but have youth and depth on the blueline and have some rather nondescript top six forwards. Tampa could use a stud blue liner but also must replace St Louis and Lecavalier soon. I could see the 6 elite forwards all going before Nurse and after Jones. The question is will Shinkaruk bump Nurse down another spot if one of those needy forward teams sits at 8.
