Found this in the NHL.com article on the Gaborik trade:

Quote:
Clowe has yet to score this season, but he has been right around the 20-goal mark throughout his career. Brassard gives the Rangers a third quality center behind Brad Richards and Stepan and has seven goals and 11 assists this season after averaging about 40 points per game the past three seasons.
Gee, he really underperformed tonight.

I absolutely knew this was going to be in the post game thread. Didn't think it would appear as quickly as it did. That's your focus after the win? You're a better poster than that.

one game, but it was the best the Rangers have looked since the first half of last season.... They gave a FULL 60 minute EFFORT.. Most of all thats what I loved the most, and yes the goals certainly helped.

I missed the first 2 periods because I had a late night tonight; knew I was going to miss them and was very disappointed to miss seeing how these guys started their careers with NYR. Looks like it was a good game.

Were we actually lookin good, border-line dominant? Or were they all finally getting good bounces / MAF playing horribly?

--

I was one of the bigger proponents of the trades that were made, but even that said, I really don't want this one game to make peoples' expectations go through the roof. Lets at least keep them on this planet folks. There is no way this level of scoring continues. I hate to see the reactions if any of these guys makes a mistake or goes into a slump at any point during their time here...

That said, while its just one game; and we'll see if it continues, at the very least it demonstrates how these deals may not have been as awful as reading these boards would have indicated to an outsider. I hope people who were absolutely throwing hissy fits at both of these trades and acting like babies are at least getting used to the idea of cookin up some crow or lookin up some recipes (premature to say you should definitively eat it, but its a good start).

JD had to fly out and pick Gabby up? That is a little weird, imo.

Wow, just wow. The game I've been waiting for all season. Hitting everything that moved, getting a lead, holding a lead, and not taking the foot off the gas one iota!! ****in love it!!

Hey, naysayers, take that!!

Interesting for Milbury and Jones to bring up the potential Gaborik problems that we were thinking about earlier

Remember when Voros scored like 5 goals in his first games. And we all know how that turned out.

Good job Clowe, Brassard and Moore. Now follow it up with another good game.
Nobody is expecting this every game from the newbies, but lets not compare guys who have produced with a guy who never did.

Brassard has 41 points last season that would have tied him with MDZ for 4th on the team last year.
Clowe had 45 points last season.

Voros NHL high was 16 points...that was his full season with the Rangers.

Keep boyle on the wing

Also, Pyatt continues to be a nonfactor in a game where nearly everyone was doing SOMETHING.
