Hmm interesting. Im glad for Jussi. Maybe we'll have a new finnish cup winner this year.

JJ will score one series deciding goal, you heard it here first

It won't - don't worry about that.

And they can buy out the $1.5 million if he does not produce, right?

Do you honestly think Ray is gonna bench TK for Jokinen???? I mean, really????

As for the deal itself, I really like it. A solid depth guy who can become part of a PK solution, left handed excellent face off guy who can play either wing or center. We gave up next to nothing and even got the Canes to keep some of the salary. I like it quite a bit.

I always believed you needed an elite center, an elite scoring wing, and a guy to get his nose dirty in front of the net and the corners for a perfect line. That combination gives each line some version of that combination. it would create the top two lines in hockey, and the third line is not bad either.
I'd rather Morrow not be in the top six. I'd also rather Iggywith Malkin and Neal while our top line stays status quo. On the 4th line, I'd love to see Beau in the mix but I don't know who to replace him with considering if we take out Adams or Glass wed lose some much needed toughness and very good PKer in Adams.

He'll regain 30 goal form and the Pens will be rolling the 2013 Eastern Conference All Star team.

Bump Cooke down to the fourth line once Crosby is back even though he has been productive..

With some luck maybe Morrow and Jokinen were good friends in Dallas? Morrow at least held ALOT of respect in that lockerroom back then.

if anything, the big connection here is Jokinen and Sutter. they were apparently good friends when playing for the Hurricanes.

i wouldn't mind that when Crosby comes back. for now, it'll be Kunitz - Jokinen - Dupuis as the first/second line.

Just happy about his faceoff numbers. Without Sid in the lineup, the Penguins only had one other faceoff ace and Bylsma usually scratches him.

Jokinen-Malkin-Neal - Jokinen is an opportunist who would thrive here
Morrow-Sutter-Iginla - That would be the toughest line to play against in hockey

That makes more sense. That would be by far the best top 9 I have ever witnessed.

Jokinen - Vitale - Kennedy

I guess, but Jokinen might just rot a bit on that 4th line, don't see how he can bring much to the Pens.

A 4th liner with some grit might have been a better fit, but behind their unreal top 3 lines, I guess it doesn't matter.
He's actually not bad in the faceoff circle either. Over 50%. Is a cheap replacement for Crosby (acquisition wise) until he's back, and is a skilled guy who should be able to help out anywhere in the lineup. Although if/when everyone is healthy, I'm not sure exactly where he slides in.

Anyone know how much salary was retained? The max is 50% or 1.5m. This will have a big impact for next year.

Not sure how the rumor started, but Jussi Jokinen's wife is not having a baby today.
He confirmed to Finnish media that he and his wife were in hospital for their year and a half old daughter's routine check up.

When 100% healthy, I'd go with:

Kunitz - Crosby - Dupuis
Iginla - Malkin - Neal
Jokinen - Sutter - Morrow
Cooke - Adams - Kennedy

Actually, really any combo would work, so much talent there! WAYYYYYYYYYYY less scary without Crosby though, getting him back by the time the playoffs start will be crucial. If Crosby's out for the first round, I could see them getting upset right off the bat.

I'll trust Canes fans judgement on that. I think he's going to have to play center for now though with Crosby being hurt. Even if he isn't that good there it beats their alternative of playing Tyler Kennedy at C.

Most of Jussi's faceoff were on the left side of the ice. If he's forced to take all faceoffs I wouldn't be surprised to see his FO% go down.

Jokinen isn't a bad center if he has the right linemates.

This season he was stuck with the likes of Bowman, Wallace, and LaRose, all of whom are probably in the bottom .01% of NHL players and none of whom complement his game at all.

He was set up to fail from the drop of the puck this year.

I like the top 2 lines.
But, That bottom 6 is super soft for playoff hockey

I disagree, the year we won the Stanley Cup we were rolling something relatively similar. Granted, we had a revolving door on the 4th line around then, but it consisted of Adams and two relatively-skilled players. (Satan/Sykora/Dupuis, or Malkin/Crosby when double-shifted.) The third line is the difference maker here. Dupuis is a underrated in the physical aspect of the game, as he knows how to wear down the other team's defensemen. Sutter may not have the size of Staal, but he's just as physical along the boards when it comes to puck battles. So a 4th line of Kennedy - Jokinen - Adams is definitely acceptable to me.
