Got to thinking and couldn't really find an answer: Anyone know whatever happened to Orszagh? Always liked that guy, looks like he last played back in '05-'06.

Thanks, but darn that really sucks. Hope he's doing well, I still remember that goal he scored and then wow his head hit the pole. I can't find it on youtube.

question:

if we had known for sure Erat was being traded, would it have made sense to try to get Sully for the remainder of this season? you would think our 7th rounder would be higher than NJ's and thus more attractive to PHX...

With Erat and Hannan gone, how close are we to the salary cap floor?

Nowhere near it with the new CBA and weird cap range for this season. We're actually above the Blues right now and in good shape for next season's 64mil cap.

By my rough calculations of what RFAs will re-sign for (3.5 for Horny, 3 for Josi, QO for everyone else), we have over 13 million to spend if we're a cap team. Which we should be with the cap at 64.

That's easily enough to bring in a top 6 winger and a top 4 PMD, if they're available.

Anyone think we go on a tear since a face that has been around forever has just been traded? Usually sellers play better at the end of the year because teams over look them and guys are playing for spots, we may see that happen here.

Wouldn't it be ironic if we make the playoffs and Erat and the Caps don't?

I was thinking the same thing- I've always been a big Erat fan but wasn't crazy about his comments.

We are not the sinking ship he seems to think we are- I actually think it would be pretty funny if we made it and the Caps don't

No, we're not. Jack Hillen is in their top 4. A guy that was a number 7 or 8 here at times.

hahah wow Hillen is in the Caps top 4? Woah. Their D sucks, so bad. He wont have Rinne or Weber to cover up for his 10 turnovers a game either. Will be interesting to see if they make the PO's.

“I think when a guy wants out and he wants to leave … we want guys here that want to play and want to be a part of this team, want to win, and that wasn’t the case with Marty,” Fisher said. “So you just kind of move on. I think from what I hear we got a great deal.”

Interesting that he got no first place votes. probably why he never wins coach of the year.

Interesting he and Tippett are the only ones who have never won the Cup either. Votes and awards are great but it doesn't change the results. He's done a great job. He's done a lot with what he's been given. I think he's also driven away players because of his system. Great coaches play to their players strengths. They put them in situations to succeed. I have gone back and forth with Trotz as coach of this team over the years. I think there comes a time when it's time to move on and go a different direction. It could succeed, it could fail but at the end of the day, I feel this team continually takes one step forward, one step back and is spinning its wheels more often than not.

It's less than 3 hours before faceoff and no Game Day Thread? That may say alot about the mood for today's game. I'm heading towards downtown here in a few seconds; bracing myself for the sea of red, black, and overly obnoxious.
