IMO we need both a new goalie coach and a new head coach who will have our players play a more disciplined and balanced game. Also one who can actually make adjustments. Otherwise it is going to be more inconsistent goaltending unless we get Lundqvist.

All done in the name of acquiring and keeping Bryz happy.

All for what? So this POS can put up MFL numbers and constantly deflate whatever momentum this team has?

We should have went deep in the playoffs last year and despite the skaters struggling, we came into the elimination game flying. Went up a goal and then Bryz proceeded to give up two back to back terrible goals.

Before that one could say his OT flop in GM3 was terrible.
Before that one could say he did a good job making sure GM1 was much closer than it needed to be.

Now, after a long year of the offense being stuck in neutral and injuries constantly beating our skaters down; we are finally starting to net pucks and for what? So this guy can play like the common beer league goalie?

Eight-two-fookin-four last night off a mere 17 SA! Yet the D CONSTANTLY takes flack. The forwards CONSTANTLY get ripped for not back checking.

Enough is enough. This guy fkin blows and he needs to GTFO.
People really need to give the hardon for richards and carter a rest they were gone even if Bryz didnt come here.

There will be a buyers market for goaltenders this summer: Emery, Backstrom, Smith, Nabokov and Lou will probably be bought out and Ryan Miller will be available for cheap, much to the delusions of Sabres fans. There are not a lot of teams that need them either. The Flyers can buyout Bryz and go with a cheap tandem of one of the ufas like Backstom or Emery and Mason. Or they could just keep Bryz for another year before buying him out and see if they can get Mason back to what he was.

This. Those guys just look for any ammo they can get to fire on Bryz, not that he doesn't deserve to get reamed out.

Backstrom isn't going to be cheap nor will Emery after the season he's had.

Rangers fan here...

Yeah, have to agree. Unfortunately, Bryz is nowhere near what his contract is worth. Several other goalies in the league surpass his inconsistent ability to stop pucks, especially easy shots.

Also agree with that list posted above. Those goalies will stay with their teams for the most part

You're best bet there is Smith since his team has been horrendous. I can see him playing for Philly, no doubt. But his resigning with Phoenix depends on... well if Phoenix is even a team at the end of the season to resign with

Not to mention that the assets the Flyers got for Richards and Carter are performing at a rate equal to or better than Richards or Carter. Bryz has been a flop, for sure. But Couturier, Schenn, Simmonds, and Voracek have been pretty damned good.

Have to be honest and say I have little interest in Smith. He'll be 32 and if not re-signed by Phoenix he'll be onto his 4th franchise in 10 seasons.

Makes me wonder if the jersey Heeter wore last night had a Mason nameplate underneath it.

Same thing happened with Harry Z and Rosehill (37). The numbers available are dwindling.

Next season-Mason underperforms, Flyers resign Leighton, Boucher, bring up Heeter-he falters they trade him to Carolina, etc....resign next washed up goaltender..rinse, repeat.

I kid though...hope they sign emery or Smith in the offseason

Really? Smith? A goalie who can't even thrive in the same system Bryz was in and did well? I can't imagine how bad it will be if he comes here. Also, Emery is not #1, I don't think. Also, even with his condition and the way he's playing, I don't know how long his hip will last.

If the Flyers amnesty Bryzgalov I would have no problem bringing Emery back. No more then a 2 year deal tho. He could be a good stop gap guy until we can see if Stolarz is ready then. Emery/Mason(depending on how he looks down the stretch) would probably take up less cap space then Bryzgalov.
You cant have 8 million plus tied up in 2 goaltenders. Not when there are needs elsewhere on this team.

Since we haven't had Emery here after his surgery and he's on a very good Chicago team, plus the fact we need to see how Mason does, I don't know how I feel about Emery/Mason tandum.

I don't really like the idea of that. I would keep Bryz another yr and amnesty him the following yr if he doesn't play great. Them reevaluate the situation. By then they should know what they have in mason

Smith is just a terrible idea

Amen!! I still take the six players we got for them and that does not include Bryz. And this is coming from a guy who really likes both Jeff and Mike. This club is building the right way and our core group will be special in time. Just so glad Homer did not move any of our kids, prospects and top draft picks. I still think we may have seen the last of Frodo in Orange and Black. And with the pick up of Mason,we now have a backup who has the potenial to be a starter. Plus with Stolarz doing well in juniors I think Homer just needs to work on the defense this off season. This team is not far from being a SOB to play against and being a contender for the cup.

If you amnestying Bryzgalov then what options do you really have? Mason was brought here for more then just this season I gotta believe. Now a lot can change between now and then. They are going to have to find out what Mason wants for a contract. If hes looking at his QO+ for his next deal then you have to decide between Mason and Bryzgalov. Having both is not an option next season if Mason wants 3 million plus.
Yes I know there is something to be concerned about with Emery. But like I said sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal. He is shown he can play in this league when he is healthy.
