Turnovers are a terrible way to judge a dman. Way too many variables. Fact is he's not a great dman. Fact is he cost a forth. Fact is, who cares this much?

It seems like some teams players have far far more than others. I guess it's up to the home team statistician for official NHL.com count.

Whoever is picked with that 4th rounder is very unlikely to ever be an NHL player. So anyone saying this is a bad deal for Toronto should pull their head out of their ass.

Again, we can talk all we want about how Burn has played this past year, but this past year isn't his whole career, and he's coming in to the most ideal of settings for him. Will be paired with JML or Gardiner, a very quick puck mover, will be playing 2nd pair duties, and will play in a very simple system that uses his strengths well.

He played 18:51 per game, not gonna bother checking v each player but he looks to be middle of that group

O'Byrne was the worst D on probably the worst D in the league.

Last year he was better, so hopefully he shows up for you guys.

Outside of Mark Fraser - Toronto hasn't had any 'D' terribly interested in clearing bodies/making life difficult infront of their tenders all season. Our back end is actually really weak physically.

Gardner
JML
Gunnerson
Kostka
Franson
Phaneuf

Then O'Byrne should fit right in. See: Any play all season where on a powerplay teams are able to have 2 guys standing free in the crease waiting for a pass from behind the net.

Prepare to be disappointed. He got outmuscled by Jiri Hudler the other day. (Granted, it was because he made a poor read and started to block a passing lane instead of taking the guy in front of the net, but still it looked ridiculous).

Clowe hasn't even scored and they traded what for him???.........

..
.
..
ummm Okay, ...uhhh, I guess players can look better with a new system and change of scenery

Oh, this is about the dude the leafs paid a late pick in the 2014 draft for? A defender who will get sheltered mins against teams 2nd and 3rd lines - with a decent puck mover?

Oh, for the purse thing, remember that he did that stupidity with the intent to stick up for a teammate, and was barely 20-22 years old.

As much as I like him as a person, I am glad he is gone. We now only have 2 pylons on Defense instead of 3.

Plenty... I was at a game where Brassard lit him up and he (Chara, not Brassard) was slow getting to the bench.

Still perplexed as to why fellow Avs fans feel the need to belittle this move. ROB was going to go somewhere yesterday.

One more thing Leaf fans should know is he drops/loses his stick around 4 times a game, so be prepared for that.

A lot of non Leaf fans are really bitter about this trade lol, it's pretty comical. Leafs fans don't seem to care at all either way because it was a 4th rounder, but some other fans can't help themselves but to continually go on and on about how horrible he is. Randy Carlyle likes right handed D-men do ballance out lefties, the trade may only have happened to get another RH dman on the team regardless of if he plays much or not. At the end of the day, this trade will not make the Leafs franchise fold, nor will it make the Av's the best team in the league.

Highly doubt O'Byrne makes or breaks our season. No ones claiming he'll be a top pairing defenseman. Gives us some quality minutes and is better than Kostya.

If Carlyle can make a guy like Mark Fraser look good, it's plain as day to see why giving a 4th for oByrne is an easy low risk/high reward type deal for the Laffs

A lot of talks about O'Byrne after the deadline, some saying he's just another Komisarek, some saying we got ripped (hard to lose a deal when all you give is a 4th imo), some thinking he'll be on the second pair, some thinking he'll be the 7th guy.

Thought I could take a look at some factors that might shine a light on where he fits.

....the Leafs have four defensemen to use as needed: Kostka, Liles, Gardiner and O’Byrne. From among these four, two will form the second pair and two will be in the press box on any given night. We don’t yet know who Carlyle will prefer to play, but there are three potential factors to O’Byrne’s advantage in getting more playing time.

Hes looked pretty damn good tonight; quiet and simple. A few big hits, and of course, a goal in his first game.

Knew this was coming. It's only his first game but he's been decent so far.

Of course... He averages a goal every 75 games, but he scores one in his first game with the Leafs just to make us look like we're full of it. He's still screwing us
