It's one game, I'll be the first to tell people to calm down after such a reaction, I just happened to have this overwhelming feeling that we'll be in the cup this year.

Pitt WILL not win the cup. They have no goaltending. Their defense is meh.

I like Boston, but Rask is also a headcase. Get a bad goal past him and the gates open.

I really don't think Montreal is as good as everyone is making out. We've played them like absolute horse **** every time of the season. Uninspired hockey. Didn't we play Biron both times in Montreal too? They're not a physical team. That takes a huge toll on any team once the playoffs start. Nightmare match up? They'll be similar to the Senators last year. If we play inspired hockey we win. If we don't, we lose. There should be no reason we don't play inspired hockey into the playoffs.

I think the team will click right around the start of the playoffs. I think they'll get on a really good roll these next 12 games and go like 9-3, or 10-2. I think we win the next game in Pitt handily too, somthing like 4-2 or 5-2.

Clowe and Asham go a long way towards helping our grit. The veteran presence now will help out down the stretch. Zucc is starting to shine, dude just gets it. Its not a coincidence that we start scoring on the powerplay a lot more often with him back on the squad.

If/when Staal comes back, watch out. If he doesn't we'll be a lot more beatable since Torts will refuse to play Moore and Eminger more than 7 minutes a game.

Save the posts. Either way i'll either be gloating or gladly eating crow.
Don't forget Dorsett. He's a character, gritty guy who wore the A in Columbus. The concern with him is he crosses the line sometimes and Torts doesn't react well to that. But he will definitely provide grit and nastiness with some skill. Look forward to seeing what he brings in a few weeks.

I was confused when I saw this stat at one point in the game: 3 for 3 on the PP, 3 shots.

I just kept thinking, "is this real life?"

Pits goaltending will be their downfall....even if their top lone buries the puck, the only thing needed is to split the offense and pressure fleury and it's a surefire goal... its like watching bryz in net

Actually that's the exact approach he took with Kreider in the playoffs last year. Even said it on one of those Pierre interviews.

Was surprised how invisible Iginla was last night, I don't really recall hearing his name after he hit the post early in the 1st.

Yeah he was fumbling the puck like crazy too. Cally almost got a shorthanded breakaway from stripping the puck off of Iginla.

I said it when the trades happened.

Iginla is not even close to 50 goal Iginla anymore. He's still good, but not a superstar

Morrow and Murray are just ****, and they played the part yesterday

Unbelievable how all of the new acquisitions played and scored at least one goal. Made Slats look like a friggin genius up there chewing on his tabacco barge.

Was impressed with Brassards game. If he is that type of slinky player who has some decent playmaking skills hell be a nice addition on this roster. I thought his simple, yet creative play on the powerplay helped things out tremendously. He really cheated towards the middle of the ice instead of the usual telegraphed perimeter passing, and once he got rid of it went to to net. Thats an entirely different look that this team has been dying for. Hopefully that can continue but its just one game against a team who played pretty soft positionally.

Torts gave Boyle a bigger role and he delivered. Good for him. I'm sure the trade deadline was swirling over his head pretty good. Clowe was exactly what I thought he was, solid positionally, hard on the boards, sneaky skillset. Fits right into the system. Him over Gaborik alone is a good swap, considering how lifeless Gabby was.
The biggest change offensively is that the Rangers drove to the net, used screens, and shot through traffic. If Rangers are going grind down low that is something they have to do consistently. Being a perimeter shooting team, while grinding down low, stifles offense. The Rangers have to continue getting bodies around the net and shooting through traffic.

I hope they don't reverse back to their old ways of passing along the perimeter into oblivion.

Apparently he knows Richards through some Maritime Provinces (PEI, New Foundland, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick) connection. One of the guys on NBCSN said Boyle was part of the same connection, but being from Massachusetts, I don't see how that could be the case.

Bunch of Sharks fans were amazed at the deal they got for Murray. They were saying he's barely an NHL defenseman anymore so.............

A perfect fit in Black and Gold.

I was surprised how many Sharks fans it seemed came to post on the board when Clowe was scoring who also added in digs at how bad Murray was.

Glad we didn't go that route and got Moore instead.

I still feel like i'm in a dream after watching yesterday's game.

That was the most satisfying win I've seen in a while. Everyone contributed in some way and I actually saw the effort and drive from the players for 60mins. Lets keep it up! Now i'm actually looking forward to friday's game instead of dreading it.

Yeah Murray used to be a good stay at home physical defenseman but he was still always kind of a bottom pair guy who was pretty slow. Now he's just a wreck. The Penguins really had no reason to trade for him

I was really confused by some of the Pens acquisitions around the deadline. Morrow is a 3rd liner at best at this point, and they had a third line that was clicking and playing quite well. I understand Iginla, but Murray and Morrow were head scratchers.

Yep, Morrow and Murray were invisible or flat out bad. And the Pens gave up quite a bit for them. That's the difference between what the Rangers did and what the Pens did. The Pens traded good pieces for (3) rentals. The Rangers traded good pieces for a guy who will hopefully be around for a while.

They wanted to make a big splash. Dumb of them to not trade for Jagr who would have been a better fit there. Murray was a terrible get. Regehr was the cream of the crop in terms of d-men who moved and he isn't anything special anymore.
