There's a very real possibility we don't make the playoffs this year, but we're on pace for an 89 point season (over 82). That's a 14 point improvement over last year's finish and 27 points over the season prior to that.

As far as I'm concerned, we're playing with house money right now.

How about we should always be humble?

I think for the most part Edmonton fans are pretty conservative.

But I am pretty certain the Oilers know how to handle this. We don't run around having ceremonies for winning the President's Trophy or retire numbers of players who are not in the Hall.
no. just parties to celebrate being the worst team in the league and getting the 1st pick.

I can't believe how many people are being cocky jerks because the oilers have played well lately and Hall is kicking butt. the Oilers have been the worst team in the league since the last lockout and until this winning streak were still threatening to be one of the worst teams inthe league.
now is not the time to run around bragging and talking smack. wait until the oilers actually do something.

be proud, be happy about how things are going lately, but have some perspective. it's really easy to see why so many people hate Oiler fans and start to hate the team, too.

guess I'm a person who doens't think it's cool to be a jerk and arrogant to others hiding at home behind your keyboard.
Is there anything worng with being happy for the team you cheer for, support them and not be insanely disrespectful and rude to others?

Probably not, in fact most should probably do that, but you have to admit playing well enough to get the old "eat this" to Flames, and possible Nucks, fans is pretty satisfying.

I don't see that behaviour you are describing. But again, I don't venture to the main boards because that kind of thing is so commonplace there. That said, I don't begrudge Oilers fans getting a few licks in at other fan bases who have been on our case for years for our suckage now that we're seeing signs of the promise we've been waiting for come to light. Let's put it this way: I'd rather people be rude and disrespectful to each other on the internet than IRL.

In honour of this, I won't be posting any more until next season.

May the streak continue!

If our Cup parade is going down jasper, could we swing by my apartment? It's only like a block over and I'd really appreciate it.

Anyway, Oiler fans ARE humble on this site.
Every garbage thread of "TAYLOR AMAZING HALL" and "EDMONTON IS ROARING BACK" are all made by fans of other teams, which just gives our resident Oiler trolls reasons to attack us, so we defend ourselves.

This thread wasn't even really necessary, we know our place.

fair enough, and a couple of good points.
and I do admit to enjoying the oilers running up the score against the flames.
have a good one!

Good reminder OP.

It would be nice if it worked in theory..but the reality of the situation is that no matter what an Oiler fan posts, it will be taken the wrong way by some ass clown out there.

No matter though, we should at least try to keep it classy, as many other team's fans should as well...although some will not.

The funny thing is, even while remaining humble in victory, lots of people are still going to hate us.

As for right now, if the team can focus on improving defensively then we will be a factor in every game down the stretch. We can't rely on scoring 4 goals/game (or EIGHT! ha).

Just a few weeks/months ago this team couldn't score at all. Keep it tight in our own end and then let the thoroughbreds run free at the other end.
yeah, classy is the route to take *if* we ever do actually become a good team (we're not one yet btw, just in case any of you were getting ahead of yourselves)... we bug vancouver fans all the time about being cocky, even though they haven't won anything.... vancouver has been a top-5 team in the league for almost a DECADE, lol

we have a long, long, long way to go before we can start even *thinking* about being cocky... and when we (hopefully) do eventually have those thoughts, we should cast them out and act like we've been there before

Who really cares what a small group of anonymous people have to say in this little hockey forum world? Most hockey fans don't even read this stuff.

To be honest I could care less what the main board thinks. They are just people behind computer screens who barely get to watch our team play anyways

Yup, Oilers have tough sched till the end, if they crap the bed we could be 13th in west. 4-5 game win streak is good, but we are not out of the woods yet

I have no problem being humble. This team has beaten me to a humble pulp over the past six years and change.
