3rd Jerseys

I wanted to start this thread to see what you guys thought of the designs and ideas of third jerseys since our new uniform changes.

Someone started a thread on the Preds board recently that one of the Team Owners responded to saying that the didn't see one coming anytime soon, and that it would probably be the latest Midnight Blue 3rd jerseys (which i liked)making a comeback.

I have copied a couple concepts that I have seen online and wanted to see what you guys think or if you had any ideas.

What do you guys think?

i think the Jersey with Fisher looks amazing

But imo, the second Legwand Jersey looks way to much like the St. Louis Blues Jersey.

I liked the old blue thirds. Too bad we will not see mustard again.

Any reason why the dark blues haven't been worn in a long time?

They're no longer our team color.

Well, that blue is still an accent color, so I think it'd be appropriate for a 3rd. I just think ownership is really committed to making the gold color stick to the point that it's as recognizable as Red Wings' red. To that end, they don't want to muddle things with a 3rd in a different color.

Personally I think a third jersey should differ in more than just color from the main jerseys. I've long thought something with the NP logo (third one in OP) would be awesome, or something like the Avalanche's old 3rd jersey that said "C O L O R O D O" diagonally. The guitar pick isn't bad, except that the TN flag reference in there gets mistaken for DragonballZ.

What is the best site to go to in order to create your own concept?

Both of those remind me of the Sabres uniform from a few years ago.

i love the Weber NP one.

The black and blue, no yellow concept was the brainchild of David Freeman when he was the mouthpiece of the ownership group. It was very likely going to become the primary-- then Henry and Cogen came in and convinced Cigarran and Fritch that rather than running from the "ugly yellow", they should embrace it as something that stands out and sets the Predators apart from the rest of the league.

There may some day be another third, but it won't be the black and blue. I know that for fact.

I desperately wish they would design one sans horizontal stripes. They are soooooo unflattering on the vast majority of our fans. That first Reebok Edge we had before our current gold jerseys was nice. I'd like to see it redesigned and adapted into a 3rd.

I thought like other teams who have 3rd jerseys, it should be something besides our primary logo and our primary jersey (Home and Away) color scheme.

That is why I like the NP and the Guitar pick ones.
The guitar strings going through the middle of the jersey are different as well and not bad.

That was, in its time, one of the two or three worst jersies in the league. It looked like a late 90s roller hockey jersey.

well... with the average girth of our fans, 90's roller hockey is much more flattering than horizontal color blocking or stripes that emphasize weight.

It's a hockey jersey, not a fashion statement.

you don't think fashion design is an integral part of creating professional sports jerseys?

I would love to just see these brought back as a 3rd.

These jerseys were heavily criticized but I was always a big fan. And besides, look at the Leafs, Rangers, Kings, Senators, Devils, Penguins: "throwbacK" 3rds are very much in style right now. I know 2010-11 isn't exactly throwback compared to a Senators adaptation from 1911, but it is afterall a retired jersey, and I think it's a cool trend so I'd like to see the Preds hop on.

Appearance on ice factors in... but the team can't account for how a person who is 5'2 and bigger around than any goalie in pads is going to look wearing a replica. Every fanbase has people who are well beyond goalie cut and nothing they do is going to be flattering for them and serve its primary function.

Let's be honest ... our fans have complained about the black and blues, the mustards, the current yellows, and the spaceman silver on the 98-11 sweaters. The piping laden edge jerseys have appearance issues, even the gamers. If there are any hockey gods remaining, Reebok loses the contract when it expires in a couple of years.

I think they should be designed off the Dixie Flyers jersey.

What about one with PREDS across the front? Sorry I don't know how to make a prototype to show.

The black and blue will always be the best jersey imo and I love our current ones.
