Here's a writeup on WHL players by poster SEPH, some are of interest to Hab's fans. Good reading.

Where I think they will go or where I like them? :-0

Duclair may go early in the second, but i wouldn't pick him that early. Dauphin may go later in the second, but I'd wait until the third. DLR will likely go 20-30, and that's where I'd pick him.

At this point you would take Duclair before Dauphin ? That's a bummer, I really tought Dauphin was good for early second round.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Habs land Lazar, Pulock or Morrissey.

Nashville's trading of Martin Erat and Mike Latta to Washington for Filip Forsberg is the good news for the Habs in that their 2nd round pick is ours.Nashville is going to lose a few more games without Erat guaranteed. It wouldn't surprise anyone that Nashville finish in the bottom 10 teams now. With both Calgary's 2nd pick and Nashvilles the Habs could pick three times in the Top Forty now. There are going to be players that are picked to make the top thirty that will be available when the Habs use those picks no doubt IMO.

yeah, those picks are getting more and more value as the season progresses.

Now I spend more time checking the standing of Nash and Calg everyday! Let's go partners...tanking time for you!!!!

So glad MB didnt trade them!

You should also check out Dallas, they gutted their team and we have their 3rd rounder.

I haven't been paying too much attention to the rankings but where is Quentin Shore slated to go? I know the Habs like to draft teammates of draft picks, might be someone of interest as he had a good Freshman year at Denver.
Clapperton and Shore are both good players that might be available when the Habs pick with their 6th and 7th round picks.

Whats the cost to acquire a top 5 pick this year? I want Barkov.

What would it cost? Roster player (A Gio or Bourque or DD? ) + our 1st (assuming its a late 20) + one of our 2nds + Thrower? Thats just a wild guess.. Too much or not enough?

Clearly not enough for the team with the pick.

And it totally kills our depth.

We just go with our pick.

nowhere close to what it would take. Teams wont trade such a pick for quantity. Start with subban, or Galchenyuk or Pacioretty + or Price. These are the only pieces teams in the top 5 would want in return for their pick, and there's no way we want to let these guys go. In other words, we are not getting a top 5 pick for a 20ish pick and some okay roster players, and that's okay with me.

Fair enough, I wasn't sure. Thats why I asked.

NO way it takes Subban or Galchenyuk or Pac + though. Its a deep draft, I think moving up can be done. I guess it's not something anyone else is interested in talking about though.

Galchenyuk for top 5 picks would be the price...or Subban or Price.

Subban or Price.. Really?

Holy **** I guess I was off.

I figured my first offer was kinda low but I still thought it could be done without them.

Scratch this idea then.

Lazar

RT@coreypronman how high do you see Lazar going come draft time?
Guess is late first, but he's a guy who the odd scout loves.

Ruslan Fedotenko and 2 2nd already got the Flyers a 4th overall, people always think it takes our best players to get one, but it's rarely the case, don't worry.

Living in a cap world and the improvement of overall management of teams I doubt you would see a deal like that in today's world. If we want a top 5 pick I agree that one of Subban, Price or Galchenyuk would be on the table. Blatant stupidity happens but it's a lot rarer nowadays.

I think if the Habs do stick with the 6 picks rather than trade up (hope for trade up) they have to take some stabs. Guys like Lehkonen or Petan with a low 1st. Carrier as a late 2nd and maybe Yan Laplante with the Dallas pick.

I'm not say take 4 question marks with 6 picks but I'd like to see a gamble or two. Still firmly in the trade up camp though.

No one sane will ever ask for Subban or Price. Alex, yes. But not the other two.

yeah, I'm not saying that's the value of a top 5 pick this year, I'm saying that's what it would cost. It's crazy, I know. For the habs it would be a lateral move as all our guys that have value right now are part of the building plans. I'd rather have those Price, Galchenyuk, Subban, PAciorrety than taking a chance on a top 5 pick right now.
