Lord knows you don't just toss around bonafide assets such as a 3rd round pick and michael F leighton.

The way some people are reacting you'd think we traded Giroux for Mason.

Wait, we're extending him before he even plays a game?

So, exit Bryz?

I have a feeling Bryz will not be bought until next season, if at all. Could be wrong, but I am just as worried going forward with Bryz next season (and Mason as backup) as I would be with Mason and INSERT NAME HERE as backup. I think the organization probably wants to see what they have in Mason and how Bryz fares next year. We'll see.

I think Snider taking the blame off himself for the Bryz contract yesterday is a good indication that a buy-out is going to happen eventually.

True open competition; loser is gone.
And when neither win the job?

I thought he blamed holmgren for that

I am getting a bit concerned about the contract. His agent knows Homer wants him and does not want him to go to UFA and maybe feels Homer would go as far a the qualifying offer. It is going to cut into ability to sign or fit in a quality D man next season unless Bryz is bought out. (I assume Briere will be already).

He did but most assumed Snider was the driving force behind the Bryz contract. By putting the blame on Homer it makes Snider look less like an idiot if they do in fact buy-out Bryz.

They would have gone for a Luongo or another big fish if they had already decided on buying out Bryzgalov. Mason means nothing to the Bryz situation.

So.. essentially this amounts to:

Bobrovsky (2.13 GAA, .927 sv%) + a 3rd

for

Mason (2.95 GAA, .899 sv%) + a 2nd and 2 4ths

Sounds like a terrible trade

If you take this year's numbers, Nazem Kadri holds more value than Giroux.

Mason still has potential to rebound, and Bobrovsky to implode. Also, the 3rd is a 2015 pick--so an asset that won't be a factor at the NHL level for what, 5 more years?

He's actually a serviceable AHL goalie somehow.

Maybe the flyers are planning on buying out Bryz, and trading for a guy like Bernier in the offseason and having him and mason duke it out?

Idk if you're being sarcastic, but Stolarz has been absolutely fantastic. He looks like he's become a real blue chip prospect.

So Bryz will be bought out, Mason will start for a month before going down next year and Stolarz will be brought in as the new starter and then get run out of town for not putting up a .920 as a 19 year old is what you're saying?

What?

That's not what I'm saying at all? I was merely saying that Stolarz looks like a great prospect. He probably won't even play in the nhl for a few years, but if he becomes what it looks like he has the ability to become right now, we might be talking about this trade in a different tone...
