Good signing, hardest worker on the team, maybe minus Sobotka

I was shocked no one picked him off waivers when he was sent down at the beginning of the season.

It also means we are likely to move a wing at the draft.

We're a better team with him in the line up. I'm a fan.

We are going to be making in the move during the summer for sure.

Might be for futures like the Pens did with Staal or for an impact center.

I'm not as sure as my fellow Blues fans that this means we are moving someone in the summer as much as it means Jaskin starts the season in the AHL. (Almost wrote Peoria, but I guess it will be Chicago?)

The Blues will let AMac go, and have Steen, Perron, Schwartz, and Porter as their opening day left wingers.

The Jay Bouwmeester acquisition is a much bigger signal that the Blues will make a significant move in the summer. (Although, the Blues could also merely backload some of the RFA contracts allowing Bouwmeester's contract to be renegotiatied at a better rate when it is up in a year.)

We still need to have a few more signings before we speculate. Maybe we backload contracts, maybe Lehtera comes over, maybe Sobotka starts as 4th line center.

It more depends on how far we go in the playoffs which would determine if we need a shakeup and if we gained enough playoff revenue.

Agreed.

I just don't think that signing Chris Porter means that the Blues have to make a move this summer specifically to clear a roster spot for him.

If Nichol and McDonald aren't resigned, there is plenty of room on the roster for Chris Porter without making any moves.

After what happened near the deadline, this summer will certainly be an interesting one to watch for the Blues.

I don't believe signing Porter means much in the way of our other wingers. They play the same position but not the same role so unless Porter suddenly is able to play on a scoring line its not much of an issue. I do believe they will try and have him play right wing so he can take Langs spot next year and just have him and Reeves rotate if need be, with Sobotka rotating 4th line winger and 3rd line center there will be enough flexibility to make it work. He is a really good player to have on our fourth though, he checks hard every night and doesn't screw up defensively, glad to have him around for 2 more years.

And where do you plan on putting him with all the players we have?

The Blues have plenty of scoring wingers but only two decently-sized centers in Backes and Berglund. The Blues have some assets to play around with, and will almost definitely strengthen their center column this offseason.

He can't win faceoffs. Would rather have Sobotka or Lehtera in that spot.

Good point. But I'd still like to see someone like Brooks Laich down the middle. Lehtera has the size but he won't just slide into the NA game.
