Seriously. Re-read your post. What does anything up there address: When Luongo's contract is in the final years, there are teams that would find a benefit in his contract. About 5 teams.

PS -- I respect your opinion, but here, have a silly non-informed statement that doesn't actually disapprove the argument. I'm pretty sure every educated hockey fan understands the simple idea that there is currently contracts on teams that help them reach the cap due to the imbalance of salary and cap hit.
His post made a lot of sense. Yours doesn't.

Scrivens + 2 Seconds is nothing for Luongo

Nonis is a moron and is drinking too much Burke cool-aid (Going with average goaltending)

Canucks should trade Schneider if thats how low Luongo's value actually is

I wouldn't expect you to care about the context surrounding the quote but for those who do:

Luongo was asked why he thinks the trade is taking so long. He answered "my contract sucks" which likely referred to scenario he was hoping for, being traded to Florida. The reason why that deal wasn't made was because Florida is financially in trouble and not able to take on his contract.

The rich teams like Toronto have no such problem with Luongo's contract.

A 34 year old goalie with $40 million left on a contract is not going to be a sought after commodity this summer. Us fans have to think like a GM, that is that this is a business. Absolutely no team will take that contract with the cap going down. Vancouver ownership will not like the idea of having to buy him out. The only real way for Gillis to make things work is to Trade Cory. Get something useful back in a trade, and the Canucks get to keep their all-star goalie (the one that the fans have been trying to palm off to anybody stupid enough to take).

So you think somebody will want a 35 year old goalie with a huge contract than?

Did you actually watched the game? If you did, you wouldn't pin all of those goals on Reimer. The 4th goal shouldn't have counted anyway.

Toronto is only 5 pts up on 9th, have a tough schedule down the stretch, and teams chasing them like Washington and Philly are surging. The loss of Lupul would be a hard shot to take. A great goalie has the ability to allow his team to weather adversity and pull out some needed wins, time for Reimer and in extension Nonis' judgement to be put to the test.

Canucks fans must really like the Gillis koolaid. Many hockey people around the NHL all agree that trading Luongo is going to be very difficult if Gillis insists on getting assets back in return. If anything just salary relief even keeping some salary would be the only way he gets moved.

There is just not a host of teams looking to take on that contract. The contract is not bad for the next couple of years while he plays its paying him when he is 43 years old that teams are afraid of.

Gillis played his hand and teams called his bluff he went all in with 2 of hearts and 3 of spades and everyone called him and he lost all of his chips.

There is no goalie market for Luongo now or this summer. You look at the top 20 teams in the NHL and even if teams like Chicago flame out of the playoffs cap implications will prevent them from going after him along with many teams.

But hey if Gillis keeps telling you there are 4 teams interested by all means there are 4 teams interested.....hmmm wonder what 4 teams well 3 now cause Toronto passed on him.

His cap is reasonable @ 5.33M 9th highest among goaltenders, it's generally accepted it's the term and MAYBE the actual salary @6.67M that is a bit of a problem.

Well, we really do enjoy the Kool-Aid because the Kool-Aid led us to Game 7 of the SCF, two back to back President's trophies and multiple NW Division banners.

Mmmmmm Kool-Aid sure is tasty.

Last time I checked Vancouver had the same amount of points as Toronto, with St. Louis surging, games in hand, and the Schedule not exactly easy for them. Better hope Edmonton does't beat Cory too badly, or else

Funny how you say this but just before the summer there were reports that Oilers, Blachawks, Flyers, Maple Leafs, Panthers, and Lightning were all interested to some degree, but a lot of those teams addressed their goaltending problems to some degree, what if that doesn't stay that way? ie Crawford/Emery melt down, Miller getting traded and Sabres needing a replacement goalie, etc, etc.

You cannot say there will be no goalie market in the summer as much as I can say there guarantee there will be one, but the likely situation is there will be a team that needs to address goaltending as a "need to improve" and it may be a team previously stated, maybe not.

There is no way Gillis offered Luongo for Scrivens and 2 picks. He has consistently said that he wants a trade that can improve the team for another cup run. Getting Ben Scrivens does not improve our roster. Think about it! It is much more realistic that Nonis offered Scrivens and 2 picks as they actually want to improve their goaltending situation. How on earth does Scrivens and 2 picks help us improve the roster?

However, if Gillis did offer this deal, Nonis is an idiot for rejecting it.
