Everybody has bad games. Every single player in the NHL.
Desharnais is a below average defensive player. I really don't think there's any disputing that without resorting to using specific plays to try and draw a generalization.

This isn't a problem in itself, as he's not the only poor defensive center in the NHL, and his effort is always there. It does mean, in my opinion, that Desharnais is more expendible as a center at least than Plekanec and Eller because there's less situations he is valuable in.

But Desharnais is an asset as long as coaches use him properly. He shouldn't be playing much in his own zone and shouldn't be expected to shut down top tier centers.

And quite frankly, neither DD or Eller should be playing against the Girouxs and Crosbys of the league on every shift. If you have to match up one against top lines, it's Eller, but don't be surprised when he makes a few mistakes against elite competition.

Here's hoping that Eller scores the game winning goal.

And if its not him, then Subban or Pacioretty or Prust or Boullion or any other player on the ice for the Canadiens tonight.

As long as someone scores the game winning goal for the Habs.

I hope someone tell Moen to keep his gloves on at all times. My mother could hurt him.

How many centers have we pissed away while trying to make them wingers? Better wake up IMO. Eller, Leblanc, and now Chucky. Notice a trend? Sorry, Leblance really makes me mad. We almost destroyed the kid IMO. Trade him to a team that will use him as a center. One wish? Get Lefbreve outa Hamilton. We never learn...

Not sure how putting a center on the wing "ruins" him. A ton of centers either move to wing once they get to the pros or play both at different times. I don't see how playing wing ruined Zetterberg Malkin Carter Giroux Seguin Richards Peverley Marleau etc

Eller didnt get the game winner goal but glad to see him pot one tonight.

We will need him to consistently score goals for us down the stretch.

Give the GWG to Ryder and call it a very good team effort tonight.

After 2-3 unimpressive games, that was a terrific bounce back performance. Well done Lars.

D'oh.

I am in a hotel for a business meeting and had the game on my Ipad. I was on the phone talking while that play happened and saw Eller shoot and the puck go in. It was on mute so I missed the announcement.

Hell it should have gone in from Eller's shot. He deserved it after playing a hell of a solid game.

Surprised overlords hasn't mentioned it. Another two powerplay points for Eller. He's killing the points/PP ice time ratio.

He's getting his time to shine and it's working. MT needs to find him PP time even when Plek is back. I'm hoping the extra TOI and better wingers get him going and then he stays hot when He gets bumped for Plek.

Lars was terrible on faceoffs tonight. Other than that, he had a good game.

He really does need to shape up on faceoffs. he's a strong kid, he should figure it out in time.

Trade him for Bordeleau straight up.

Yep. Tried his best to look like a winger on the dot, though.
