Great news on Staal. He should be back soon. Tough to hear about Sauer though. He brought everything he had to the ice every night.

Yep. It really is a shame for Sauer. Really nice dude according to the guy who used to go fishing with the Sauer family who post here every once in a while, and a great second pairing d-man to boot.

Really happy Marc is making his way back, though. It's impossible to overstate how huge it would be for the team to have Marc Staal ready for the playoffs.

Good news about Staal, not so good about Sauer.

If we sneak into the playoffs and both staal and dorsett are healthy... Look out.

Can't wait until Staal is back.

Staal-Del Zotto
McDonagh-Girardi
Moore-Stralman

Such a good defense.

I feel really bad for Sauer. In remembering the hit from Phaneuf, the way it was called and mulled over by the knuckle head leafs announcer, Phaneuf's Dad's reaction, the whole thing... just makes me want to see Dion's head on a platter.

We got some big pay back due there.

Agreed, great defense. I wouldn't put it past Tortorella to make the D pairings as follows for the playoffs:

McDonagh-Girardi
Del Zotto-Staal
Hamrlik-Stralman
Moore, Eminger

God forbid Hamrilik plays, I want those exact combos you put, I doubt Staal will get 1st pairing minutes though coming back, so let him find his game on the 2nd pairing.

The best thing about it is that once Staal is 100%, you can comfortably get each of those top four guys 22+ minutes on a lot of nights, which means the third pair can be appropriately protected, and that nobody needs to play 27-30 minutes on an average night.

Just heard on the Canes/Bolts broadacst that Marc Staal is on the Rangers road trip and he's making good, slow progress, according to his brothers. What floored me is that they said GM, Glen Sather has been extremely supportive of Marc, even driving him to some of his doctor's appointments. I can't even imagine that, but amazing if that's the case.

!!!

Again, I'm assuming this info is coming from Jordan and Eric, which is kind of hilarious that we are relying on them for updates on Marc.

The Canes announcer said on the NHLN broadcast that Sather has been very supportive of Marc Staal during his injury, even driving him to Doctor's appointments. Sather must be pretty darn anxious to get Staal back in the line-up!

Excellent news about Staal.

The fact that Sather has been driving him to his doctor appointments leads me to believe that:

-Sather will not be trading Staal to Carolina so he can reunite with his brothers

-Sather will do everything in his power to try and re-sign him

-Staal is more valuable to the this organization than some Rangers fans think, and it's clear the the front office views him as an extremely important part of this team

I hope to see Staal in a Rangers uniform for a long time. He was playing some of the best hockey I've seen from him before he got injured.

I think he was easily our best defenseman this season, and really for the past few years (outside of last year - for obvious reasons).

He is a huge piece of the core, and I have zero-doubt the plan was to pull out all the stops to retain him in 2015. They didn't put an A on his chest for nothing. Obviously health issues aside.

Glad to hear he is making progress and working out. I am still on pins and needles until we hopefully get the "vision is 100%" go ahead.

Staal has been and will continue to be untouchable. He's not getting moved unless he wants out.

C'mon really? Is that true? Hilarious if it is. Maybe Sather's Dr. & Staal's Dr. both share office space in the same medical facility.

Sather must be having his post-op checkups nearby. I mean really nearby.

Can't see why the Canes announcer would lie about it... It was communicated in a fairly straightforward manner during the broadcast....

Either Sather is bored and looking for extra responsibilities or the organization is running low on funds and can't afford to hire a driver, haha.

Carolina hasn't made the playoffs since 2009. It doesn't look good for them this season. Moving into a division with the NHL heavy hitter$ isn't going to make it easier for them to make the playoffs. Top 3 teams in each division make it with 2 wild cards from the conference.
