Flames rebuffed trade offers from 25 different teams for Curtis Glencross

Wow..

At least 25 different teams made trade offers for Curtis Glencross. It's not likely he would have waived to leave Calgary, but with Ryan Clowe returning two 2nd round picks, you'd have to think the Flames would have netted another 1st rounder + quality prospect.

Calgary has identified the foursome of Glencross, Mark Giordano, Sven Baertschi, and T.J Brodie as the only "untouchables" during the rebuild.

Quote:
Calgary Flames boss Jay Feaster figures he fielded calls from 25 — “and maybe more” — general managers, all curious about the availability of Curtis Glencross.

Those inquiries, however, were fruitless.

Because No. 20 is not going to budge, despite the keen interest.

Nor is Mark Giordano.

Ditto T.J. Brodie and Sven Baertschi.

T.J. Brodie: nothing you trade for him will be worth it

I'm surprised he didn't claim to receive calls from 32

Not surprised that so many GM's were interested in Glencross, not many top 6 forwards that make 2.5 million.

Sadly, Jay Feaster is at the helm, so first + collection of prospects not playing in the CHL, preferably with the suffix "owski".

He's a quality player but not that good that you couldn't have made a deal...

Doesn't say what any of the deals were.

How is it "25 and maybe more"? You should know that type of thing right off the top of your head Feaster. He's either a liar, or a fool in this case. I wouldn't be surprised if he did get the 25 calls, so I'll stick with him as a fool.

There's a HUGE difference between an "inquiring about availability" and a "trade offer".

The article doesn't say anything about trade offers. Just that [Feaster's hyperbole] number of GM's asked if he was available.

I'm guessing 10-14 teams called asking for availability, with likely 2-4 making legitimate offers.

I wouldn't even be surprised if the Flames were one of the 25 teams.

Feaster's been known to try and talk big so I'm honestly not buying it.

LOL, weren't you the one claiming before Iggy was traded that he was gonna fetch a 1st + Top Prospect + Young good roster player...

Gotta stop embarrassing yourself with these outlandish statements and simply report the news.

Any team contending should've asked about him, obviously. Not a lot of top 6 forwards make $2.5M

I am going to take a guess he counts people kicking tires to see what Calgary wants then hanging up the phone soon after

Well Darcy Regier claims to have talked to all 30 General Managers in the league during the past few weeks so let's chalk all of this up to being tired.

The common consensus amongst Pens and Flames fans was Maatta, Kennedy and a 1st. He wasn't the only one making outlandish statements. All of HF was.

On 2nd thought, it was probably just Shero calling him 25 times and Feaster not realizing who he was talking to

Feaster just loves to talk, and 'and maybe more' is just 3 more words he can say. It was probably 25 exactly.

Feaster rejected them when he saw they had offered too much

It was probably just Abbotsford trying to remind Feaster that they already have an AHL team.

meh... Glencross took a pretty big discount in signing the deal he currently has, and got the NTC for it...

he loves where he lives & has lifestyle/family ties to the area. Probably made it clear to Flames that he had no desire/intention to waive the clause, and in this case they were smart enough not to leak it out to the media that they wanted to move him but couldn't b/c of him.

hard to believe that Brodie or Giordano were kept b/c of the "we're rebuilding with them" reason as opposed to the "we didn't get a good enough offer in return for them"...

Well for one just because he had 25 or more offers doesn't mean it was from 25+ different teams. A team could have made him 3 different offers for Curtis. Sounded like the Canucks made a few different offers to the Leafs for Luongo so I really don't doubt him on this.
