Already took him. And I'm not working tonight anymore so I can be on here bashing him the full game if he does bad.

I'll be watching tonight, but I can't do screen grabs. If they show a shot of Cole in the press box, can someone get a screen grab so I can properly bash him?

Just got off work and I see that Backes, Steen, and McDonald are bleeping blowing it. Elliott is playing like crap, and the refs are giving the game to the Hawks. Everyone sucks.
Am I bashing correctly?

Elliott hasn't sucked, but that "1st" line is a complete joke.

Since our guys are all still friendly with Yan Stastny, he needs to phone his brother and get him to tell the Avs he'll only sign an extension with the Blues. Let's see his trade value for the Avs then

Dammit, you're taking my job.

Let's see...Blues should have traded for Stastny because even injured Stastny is a first-line center. Evidence: he was injured last Sunday and STILL had 100% faceoffs in that game. They would have won in regulation against Chicago with him in the lineup. Plus, with Stastny's recent European heritage, the Blues would easily be able to lure over all of the good European players like Morozov and Junlund.

You would need to be insane not to make that deal. I don't see any reason the Avs would consider that offer though.

In a lot of ways Stastny makes sense in the summer, although it would be tight with the cap we could immediately sign him to an extension. The whole Division rival thing probably destroys any hope of it though.

What playmaking centers would we be able to target in the summer? Krejč? Anyone else under 30?

Wasn't me, but no way Colorado does it.

Lets start making a list, what teams will have cap issues and what teams need depth? Who has an obnoxious amount of centers?

They get a big 2way 3rd line center to replace Staz while freeing up cap space and get a 2nd rounder for their rebuild. Look at what other players went for at the deadline. With Staz's contract they won't get anything better than Berglund+2nd.

Stastny could probably return a first and a middling prospect or two. His contract is like Bouwmeester's – it dramatically reduces his value.

Could Berglund return a first? Certainly.

So Berglund and a 2d is de facto a terrible deal because a 2d for nothing is a really bad trade.

I was being generous for how much we would give up. Since HF likes to overrate and underrate what players would actually go for.

If Colorado would eat 2.6M of his salary then at the draft I'd trade Berglund and maybe a Fairchild level prospect. If Colorado wouldn't eat salary then I pretty much would just keep the cheaper asset for the same number of points.

I like it. A healthy Stastny on our top-line instantly makes us elite.

Stastny-Backes-Sobotka/Lehtera-Porter/Nichol (1-4th line respectively). That's a much better look.

Stewart almost certainly is on Stastny's wing in that scenario. He's been good this season, but he'd be amazing if that were to come to pass. Put one of Schwartz or Tarasenko on the other wing and goodness.

The major problem with having Backes as our #1C is that Tarasenko and him wouldn't really work together well, or would it? So in order for Tarasenko to really get 1st line minutes in the future is finding a playmaking center for Tarasenko to play with.

It's just so hard to project what lines would be like even for next year.

Not sure how I would feel about both Schwartz and Frank play on their off wing. I think realistically if we acquired Staz this would be the line setup.

Perron-Stastny-Stewart
Steen-Backes-Oshie
Schwartz-Sobotka-Tarasenko
Cracknell-Porter-Reaves

J-Bo-Pie
Jax-Shatty
Russ-Polak

???
Elliott
Allen

I don't see Lehtera coming over, but you never know.

What happened to Halak in this Berglund + 2nd for Statsny trade?

I wouldn't trade anymore picks.

I'd use what we have to get more picks, if anything.

Berglund+2 Prospects for Stastny.

Knowing Armstrong though, he could probably get Staz with 3rd+sonne+mcrae.

^Imagine that, overall we'd have taken the Avs three best players from them for (basically) nothing.

Or at least the three players that used to kill us back when they were competitive.
