Feaster said yesterday he's going to be meeting with Gaudreau shortly to discuss what he's going to do in the future, come to the Flames, or stay in college.

Technically its the same scenario, its just likely that Gaudreau plays another two years of NCAA instead of coming to the Flames.

His midgetness would get destroyed in the bigs.

Pretty sure they removed that loophole in the new CBA

And the Schultz-rule was that the player will play junior A the year after they're drafted then play 4 years of college.

Not the same situation since he didn't play in ushl after draft.

Because JG went directly to College after being drafted and didn't stay in the USHL he cannot leave the same way Shultz did.

Schultz didn't actually play in the USHL after he was drafted. He played in the BCHL. I'm not sure if that was the reason he was able to jump ship or not but just figured I'd give you a heads up.

Yup. Doesn't matter which league, specifically, as long as the player plays in a league other than the NCAA after his draft year, prior to the NCAA. That pulls back the date they hit free agency by either one or two months.

Johnny Hockey was on the radio yesterday (in the worst interview ever; Fan960 on air talent is just not that good)

Flames have told him if he wants to stay in school, they support that. Flames said if he wants to turn pro, they have a contract ready for him. He didn't rule out going pro next season, said he had to think about it.

And yes, he was stoked about our recent acquisitions.

Is there anywhere I could listen to this interview? Searched a bit but couldn't find anything.

Edit: Wow nevermind, I'm just blind

I didn't believe you when I seen it was Pat Steinberg, but you're totally right, those were lackluster questions to say the least. Most of them were obvious answers.

Hope he's got another growth spurt in him. At 5'7" he's going to have a rough time in the bigs.

Eliteprospects lists him at 5'9'' / 150 now, so you never know.

Both WJC and Boston college have him between 5'8.5 and 5'9. So that is probably where he is and that is most likely where he stays. I personally not to worried he light up the WJC at that height and the NCAA where there are very big players. He will just have to adapt his game to pro hockey.

Theo Fleury, Martin St. Louis, and Ray Ferraro....3 other players who are simply too small to ever amount to anything in the NHL. The scary thing....Johnny Hockey is likely the most purely skilled of the bunch.

Also; Gretzky is too scrawny and gets overmatched physically by even the towel boy....and Luc Robitaille and Brad Richards can't skate, so count them out too.

I love this kid. If Gaudreau was ~6'0 and ~200lbs, he would have been a top 4 pick in 2011 for sure. Looks like Malcolm-in-the-Middle but plays like a future perennial All-Star. Go Johnny, go!

Ouch can't see why he wouldn't just take a pro contract. It's not as though you can't time of college and go back if things don't work out in the pros. He can always finish most of his last 2 years up through correspondence courses too.

Once you've played pro you can't play NCAA anymore though, so goodbye scholarship.

Not to mention Ahl pays crap so unless he sticks in the nhl, it's not nearly as beneficial.

I wouldn't call making $105,000 / year in the AHL "crap".
