I said it in the rumors thread on here about weber. Crazy things have happened in the NHL and I would never say anything is impossible. That team looks really bad right now. Weber wanted 2 things. To get paid a **** ton on money(which he deserved) and wanted the the opportunity year in and year out to win. He was sick of the rebuild process in Nashville. He wanted management to prove they would go all the way to have a winning team. They haven't showed that yet. Now do I think weber gets traded here, no, most likely not. Tim panaccio and other flyers writers though said they wouldn't be surprised it we revisited those trade talks in the summer. What I am afraid of is a team like the rangers or penguins hopping into the trade talks though. We would have to make it a sweet offer.

Our writers are pretty much clueless outside of Meltzer though.

It really makes no sense for them to pump out 27m for 48 or so games of him and not spend another million to get him for another year.

I understand that but sometimes there hands could be forced. Weber could demand a trade or something

Although if they do keep him for the next year, acquiring him at the 2014 NHL would be amazing. Imagine the flyers fans reactions!

He could demand a trade and publicly say that he only wants to play for the Flyers. Im not saying he will do that but he could. That would significantly lower his value to other team i would think, since they won't want to acquire a player that doesn't really want to play for them.

I also wonder if a team could have a deal in place with Nashville to trade for Weber before the day that he is able to be traded and receives the 13 million dollars. Make the trade at 12:01 am that day and have the team that is trading for him pay the 13 million. That way Nashville will have only paid 14 million for the first year.

Im not saying that Nashville will trade him, but am wondering if that could be done. I would love to have Weber or any of the other top defenders around the league, but I am of the opinion that those ships have sailed and we need to draft and develop someone that can contribute now and become and #1 in a few years

Oh. I was under the impression that he receives the money and can be traded on the year anniversary of Nashville matching. That clears it up for me.

I am not even sure why I am getting involved, as I do not think this will happen. But lets say the Flyers make a trade (doubtful), in addition to the player(s) they send, couldn't they also send Nashville $13 Million?

The flyers did Shea weber an incredible favor. No way in hell he was going to be offered a contract like that by Nashville , and the flyers pretty much gave him the 2nd most money in the league behind crosby. Id love it if one day he repaid the flyers.

No, that hasn't been in the CBA since the 2005 one was signed. Before that, it was legal under the previous CBA

I would think Weber stays in Nashville at least another year.

If at the draft he is still that cheap, I'd look at pulling the trigger on tht deal if you are buying out bryz. He's been nothing but class about the whole situation and vancouvers people have just **** on him the whole time.
He is also 34 yrs old and his play has dipped this year

Its time for the Flyers to get a longterm solution in net not another vet stop gap (With a very quesitonable contract)

We're hoping that Stolarz is the long term solution, but he won't be a ready for another 2-5 years. Fact of the matter is, a veteran stopgap is exactly what we'll need if we buyout Bryz...Luongo, Backstrom...someone like that for a 2-3 year contract

God, I can't take rooting for the Pens even though I know full well that the Flyers need them to win.

Lundqvist looks like he's poised to steal this one for New York unfortunately.

Screwing the Flyers however he can is basically what he does.

These Pittsburg announcers are the worst. About as annoying as Edwards.
