I hope the Leafs won't act lame again this year and ice a rookie tournement team with the average age of 24....

I dunno if it's really all that deterministic, though. Different teams have prospects at different ages sometimes, and presumably the Habs and Leafs will each choose some dividing lines which keep some of the older prospects out of the tourney, etc, and one or two games head to head probably won't prove anything overall regardless of who plays. If anything, it'll just fuel the arguments.
If Latendresse and Chipchura don't look a notch above at this mini tournament then we can pretty much forget about them playing on the Habs this season. I mean we're icing three bluechippers in Chip, Price, and Gui, along with some other pretty solid talent so while I'm not putting much weight in how the team does in the wins/loss column I'm definately expecting some individuals to stand out.

I heard from a Drummondville fan that Frédéric St-Denis, a offensive D will be at the Montréal rookie Camp.

"Normally" the experienced AHL players wouldn't be involved, though. So I doubt very much that A.Kostitsyn or Milroy or Ferland, Lemieux, Lapierre, Locke, Benoit, Archer, Sanford could be there. "Normally" they would get a free pass to the main camp. You might make a case for the guys who have mostly just played ECHL, though. Maybe. In terms of goalies I wouldn't expect more than two, hence leaving Desjardins off my list. But of course, anything can happen and the teams might agree to bring a wider range of experiences to the tourney.

Still, we have 9 or 10 default forwards, maybe up to 5 defense, and both goalies just among our juniors and most recent graduates. (Also assuming there is zero impediment to bringing any of the signed-by-Hamilton players, which I think is safe to assume). That's pretty impressive. Filling out the remaining spots with either overage prospects or better yet invites should be easy enough. St.-Denis looks like an obvious choice. I wish Bisaillon would come back again. I've seen some of our other traditionally-mentioned candidates in camps for other teams already (the Chicoutimi connection of Coulombe, Desharnais, Boisclair for example are out of the running already). I don't know if invites to the prospect camp earlier this summer impressed much, but presumably they would be in the mix as well.

Bisaillon is going to another camp, think it's the caps who also invited Mathieu Roy I beleive and Maxim Noreau. There are two guys from Lewiston I'd invite, Castonguay and Giliati. Plus I would have liked to see our ECHL affiliate pick up former rangers pick Jonathan Paiement but he signed with Texas who is coached by former Long Beach boss Malcom Cameron.

Also of interest would be Thomas Beauregard, Martin Bartos from Bathurst since Roy, Labelle and Clendenning are at other camps. Maybe Alex Picard-Hooper, M-A Dorion and Olivier Donais from Drakkar. Maybe Francis Verreault-Paul from the Sags. Martin Frechette, maybe Benoit Gervais and Brett Morrison from Gatineau. Brent Aubin and Andrew Andricopoulos from the Remparts. Maybe Tyler Hawes from PEI, thought he would have been better then he's shown. Justin Munden and Michael Dubuc from Noranda, I like Dubuc when he was with PEI he's got decent offensvie skills imo. Maybe Francis Pare and Guillaume Labrecque from Shawinigan. Maybe Alex Imbeault from Victo.

Of course not all of them, and some might be at other camps, but we have the chance to stock up on free talent in the ECHL. The Cyclones will likely stink this year since they are building a team from nothing and are looking to have a lineup of mostly young and inexperienced players. We could pick up a couple guys that we normally wouldn't and sign them to AHL deals, giving us depth that we don't really need per say but imo I'd rather give a shot to a guy like Beauregard or Imbeault or Labrecque in the ECHL (if they would even agree to go there) just to see what they can do. Perhaps one could surprise and end up being a solid AHLer. I don't expect this to happen anyways but it would be cool if it did.

Bringing in St. Denis is a good step, I thought I heard he was at another camp but I must be wrong. Hope he does well at camp.

So it looks like the Leafs are at least bringing a true rookie-style lineup. (Lots and lots of free agent invitations there too!). That suggests we won't see any of our experienced AHL players either, per the posts above.

Out of that list I would definately give a shot to the following:

Castonguay
Giliati
Bartos (the thought of picking him last draft was not appealing for me but for free???Why not?
Picard-Hooper
Fréchette (deserves a shot why the development camp he had. Nothing exceptionnal, do not see that great of ceiling, but didn't look that much out of place)
Definately Hawes, still have confidence in his abilities, great size
Imbeault, for sure, like his style.
Labrecque

What about from the OHL or WHL???? Any interesting names without a team yet??? Does guys like Azevedo and Fadden have been invited???

I will hopefully be at the Mon vs Fla game to see former Petes Stewart (for Montreal), Shantz, and maybe Aston (for Florida).

Bump. I'm going to the Friday and Saturday games.

I'm particlarly looking forward to seeing if Aubin and Dagostini are as effective in contact situations as they were in the preliminary prospects training camp scrimmage a few weeks ago. I also want to see if either of them is good on the boards and on the backcheck. I'll also be interested to see Mr. Fischer, Mr. Chipchura and more of Ryan O'Byrne and Mathieu Carle. I was completely unimpressed by Juraj Mikus but there seems to be some positive feedback regarding him. I look forward to getting another look and seeing whether he lives up to it.

Anybody know if the Tenderness is recovered and/or if he's expected to participate fully?

Well as far as I know, there is no confirmation he'll be here for the tournament.

The Habs' roster has not been posted anywhere yet. Korpikari did participate in the summer development camp in Montreal though, so there is reason to believe he may play in the tournament as well.

I hope the roster is posted soon!

I'm still trying to figure out how Latendresse is recovering. Anybody know what his status is for the tournament?
