I imagine one of them will be let go and Wedge will be playing in Albany next year. Either way I'd imagine at least one of the kids will be ready after Marty's contract is up.

I'm not sure I want a kid to be taking over for Marty anyway, I'd rather have a hold-the-fort type like Moose (though obviously not him) serve as a bridge for a year or two instead of putting the 'he has to replace Marty' pressure on an untried kid.

Um Kinkaid has started almost double the amount of games. Frazee is 7-11-5 and Kink is 20-15-5. Frazee has a 2.50 gaa and a .916 sv%. Kinkaid has a 2.68 gaa and a .908 sv%.

That aside, Wedge and Kinkaid are the goalies of the future.

Unless he was evaluated to have legitimate NHL potential where any team in the league would take him (at the appropriate slot of course), I don't see why they would do that to the kid.
With the way we keep it all in the family (having all the Zajac's, Brian's brother, even Zach's brother for a time) it wouldn't shock me at all to see them give Marty's kid a token spot in the organization somewhere if he was a low-round/UDFA.

Wedgewood, a young backup ready to break out (like Allen from St. Louis) via trade, or some random undrafted european we've never even heard of at this point that gets plucked from the ethereal landscape by Conte like Gandalf summoning a giant eagle.

That will be the next Devils long term starter.

Good question, thanks for posting it.

Well, Marty is signed through next season which means he is the #1 goalie through next year.

He's overall played very well this season, the huge team slump began when he was injured.

Moose is also signed through next season, he has proven to be an above average backup to Marty, but when he was asked to start about a dozen straight games he flopped and could not stop a basketball some nights.

The Devils brass obviously has no faith in Kinkaid nor Frazee because if they did one of them would have at least gotten a start while Marty was on the IR.

Not to say either of them are not NHL quality, because the Devils brass has judged other young goalies in their system improperly in the past.

Wedgewood is a guy to keep an eye on in the system.
He has the "it" factor of not only promising skills and technique but he was cool as a cucumber under the pressure of playing for Team Canada and has a rep for having ice in his veins.

As said by others, it's very possible they go and acquire a proven NHL goaltender two seasons from now as a stopgap.

I would prefer top see Wedge or Kinkaid worked in for a few starts next season.

I wouldn't mind trying to land Bernier... that's if Lombardi get's off the crack pipe. Something like Josefson and a mid range pick would be "ok" in my books.

AB split time this year with another goalie Luke Kania who is a Jr. AB stats were 26G 2.49 .922. From what ive read and heard he had a stronger Jr than Sr year. 6th -7th round at best. He should go to college and play.Daddy can afford the tuition.

You need to edit your statement and say "the Devils, except for Pete DeBoer..."

I've never seen a coach so stubborn to make a change during Hedberg's **** show this year.

Yeah, that's pretty much the only way I see it happening. I don't want to make it sound totally as if its being done as a favor to him, but I can see them offering him a shot to play somewhere, maybe attract some attention, etc when few (if any) other teams would give him that shot.

He may or may not have been ruined by the Flyers. He provides plenty of comedy moments by giving up hilarious goals, but the Flyers defense is brutal. He can still steal a game, and if you only watch him when he plays the Devils he was outstanding during the Devils shootout loss against them last month. He made some amazing stops in that OT.

He was very good in Phoenix even when Gretzky was coaching them. They were very bad under Gretzky. I know a lot of goalies who aren't very good (Mike Smith) have looked great down there. He was pretty damn good with Phoenix though.

Pete cost us a few points with that stubborn decision.
And a few more with his stubborness to send Gionta out there at center late in a few games to protect a lead.

You would think they would see how bad Gionta's faceoff percentage is, and get Carter to start taking them.

Bryzgalov was a good goaltender under Tippett, Bobrovsky is having a stellar season with CBJ. Maybe the Flyers defence is just a coincidence... Maybe not.

If Philly had good goaltending this season they would be closer to 50 points.
I'm not a fan of Bryz.

So nobody mentioned Khudobin yet again. Not surprised really, but here it is. Anton Khudobin, a passable stop-gap (UFA this summer).
