Sure why not...and if there's a malfunction and I make it out alive, I'll most likely get a refund. Cha-ching!!! double win

Leaving Friday morning for a Princess 5-star cruise in the Caribbean, and couldn't be more excited.

Leave a week from today on the Celebrity Constellation ship. More excited for the 5 days in Miami I get to spend, though.

Would love to go on a transatlantic crossing aboard the Queen Mary 2 at some point, other than that cruises really aren't that appealing to me.

Fire on a Royal Caribbean cruise

http://www.cnn.com/2013/05/27/world/...ire/index.html

Quote:
A voice on the intercom woke Danielle Miller and told her to put on her life jacket and run to a deck. Not knowing what the emergency was, she nervously woke up her roommate and did just that.
The emergency, as she and other passengers would learn, was a fire that started in the rear of Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship about 2:50 a.m. Monday while it was heading to the Bahamas, sending guests to the decks under the night sky.
Though it never lost power, the ship was diverted to Freeport in the Bahamas, and the fire, which began in a mooring area, was extinguished just before 5 a.m., the company said.
The ship's 2,224 guests and 796 crew members initially were headed to CocoCay, Bahamas, but the ship was redirected to Freeport for evaluation, Royal Caribbean said.

Will be going on the maiden Caribbean voyage of the Norwegian Getaway, Feb 1, 2014. Since I work for the cruiseline (in the Miami office), I get a nice discount for booking positive space. Reserved a studio singles cabin (these are 97 square foot rooms just for singles, where there is no single supplement & has its own private lounge just for studio guests) for $583.92 including all taxes & gratuities.

Have never been on a maiden voyage before & also will get to watch Super Bowl on the ship, whuch should be fun.

I went to alaska and got damn close to icebergs and land mass of ice crashing into the sea. it was epic. the cruise itself was eh. most of the time your bored and staring at the endless miles of open water. good food though if your stomach can handle it

Alaska is simply beautiful. Its a bit of a different cruise experience, though, as the age of the passengers tends to skew a bit older than lets say those who do Caribbean cruises.

Update: I am now going on the Feb 8 sailing of this ship. Why the change? Because the ship has been chartered during Super Bowl......you know that Bud Light Hotel commercial you have been seeing ad-nauseum? Well The Getaway is the "luxury cruise liner" they are referring to. She just began her inaugural sailings in Europe before her journey across the Pond this Thursday. Here is what she looks like as she approached Southampton England today:

Not into cruises.

I'm not into boats, pools, water activities, swimming, tanning, boozing, etc. Zero interest. I live close to the beach and never go, so why bother with a cruise.

http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/26/travel...-ship-illness/

Quote:
A 10-day Royal Caribbean cruise ship will return two days early after an outbreak of gastrointestinal illness, the cruise line said Sunday.

According to Bernadette Burden, a spokeswoman with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 600 people on the ship have become ill. Passengers and crew members reported vomiting and diarrhea.

"New reports of illness have decreased day-over-day, and many guests are again up and about. Nevertheless, the disruptions caused by the early wave of illness means that we were unable to deliver the vacation our guests were expecting," the cruise line said in a statement.

Greetings from the Internet café aboard The Getaway! This cruise has been awesome! Great weather, awesome food & outstanding entertainment. Nestor Torres is onboard & Ixcuincle, you would have been in heaven as noted Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian was onboard the 1st 3 days. He is a super nice, down to earth fella.

2 more days of heaven.

We've done 10, including three river cruises. Love cruising but expect to do fewer in the next few years as we do more land stuff.

i went on a cruise with my family when i was a teenager, way back when "Love Boat" was on TV.

hated it. will never consider such a thing ever again. package tours of anything suck, & a cruise ship is essentially a Vegas theme casino on water. boring boring boring & full of fat pasty middle class white people 50+ gorging themselves on buffets & playing shuffleboard.

i think i'd rather have a vacation in Gaza.
