Next year: Chicago will have 5.8 million to resign Handzus, Kruger, Stalberg, Mayers, Rozival, LEDDY, and Emery. I think they'll choose to keep more of the team together rather than eat it all up on Leddy. IMO, he'll be available for trade this offseason.

Which Hawks board have you been reading?

Pretty much everyone on the HF Hawks board has said he should get a contract similar to MDZ or Subban at most.

Of that list, the only guys who are worth trying to keep around are Kruger, Stalberg, and Emery. Rozival, Mayers and Handzus are completely expendable.

So you plan on resigning guys AND filling out a roster with less than 5.8 Mil in CapSpace?

Just tell me how you plan on resigning Leddy, Kruger, Stalberg and Emery with 5.8 Million dollars. I'm really curious.

Leddy 2.5M
Kruger 1.25M

That's really all we need to do. If we can keep Stalberg or Bickell, we will but I think most of us know it might be time for the prospects to come up and replace them.

One thing I will say though, if someone overpays him with an offersheet, we have to just take the picks.

First off you forgot Bickell. Second off, are you nuts? Handzus, Mayers, and Roszival are all gone most likely. Emery will probably want a bigger contract next year since he's had a good year so he's likely gone. Hawks will let Stalberg and Bickell walk if they ask for too much since they're loaded with NHL ready forward prospects. Leddy is absolutely not going anywhere. I wouldn't mind a bridge contract like the one Subban got. Gives us a good cap hit to go out and get a Cup while Hossa is still a boss. Not too worried about re-signing Kruger since he doesn't put up a ton of points. Look for the Hawks to try and move Frolik for a mid-late pick at the draft.

Hawks have several cheap prospects ready for NHL roles

Brandon Pirri likely (Hopefully) gets his chance next year
Jeremy Morin will replace Stalberg
Jimmy Hayes will replace Bickell

Kruger and Leddy are only FA's that will be brought back IMO. Emery , Stalberg and Bickell will all price themselves off Hawks and Monty/Olesz are headed toward compliance buyout

- Buyout Monty/Olesz (As appears plan)
- Trade Frolik (Final year of his deal ,, Cheaper salary then cap hit)
- Re-sign Leddy to 2.45M cap hit
- Re-sign Kruger to 1.35M cap hit
- Sign vet backup G for about 1M
- Add Morin , Pirri , Smith and Dahlbeck to big club

Saad-Toews-Kane
Sharp-Pirri-Hossa
Morin-Bolland-Shaw
Carcillo-Kruger-Smith
(Bollig)

Keith-Seabrook
Hjalmarsson-Leddy
Oduya-Brookbank
(Dahlbeck)

Crawford
Vet UFA (1M)

Leaves over 700k in cap room for early next year in event of injury

Chicago has 2 buried contracts in Olesz and Montador that equal almost 6 mil. They have 2 remaining amnesty buyouts. If they need more cap space, they can probably trade Frolic.

Stanton should be the one competing with Brookbank for the #6 spot. Pretty sure he'd have to clear waivers to get sent down next year. He's been really good with Rockford this season. I think he'll get signed to a cheap 1 way deal like Bickell, Skille, and Dowell were after CapGate.

I am putting Dahlbeck in that spot for now simply because he has played solid as well in AHL and is signed

If Stanton is signed for cheap then it is likely those two fight out for final spot on roster in camp next year

I agree. Stanton has definitely shown well enough in the AHL to earn a shot at the bottom pair.

Dahlbeck will be there in a year or two, but I think next year it's Stanton's spot to lose.

Quite simple really. 1st of all Mayers, Roszival, Handzus and Emery won't be re-signed. 2nd of all, you are counting Olesz and Montador who will likely be bought out. Not to mention Frolik will probably be traded. That is like 8 mil right there.

So yeah, the Hawks really aren't in any trouble with the compliance buyouts. They will likely have to choose 1 of Stalberg, Frolik or Bickell to keep but other than that they are fine. The rest is completely expendable.

he isn't a PP specialist and he isn't poor on his back end

you miss Bickell and the Hawks have no Cap Problem. They can keep all the guys they really want to keep. Losing Bickell and or Stalberg won't be the end for the Hawks

I don't see Leddy getting anywhere close to 5 Million.

Uhh... no.

As for the OP, I don't know if there's a single Hawks fan that thinks he'll get 5M per year. I have him pegged to make 2.8-3M on a 3-year deal, and most Hawk fans complain about that.

Compliance buyout Olesz; compiance buyout Montador/traded; Frolik traded.

Everyone fits, easily. Yay!

Weird, it would be the first time they ever did that, since they wanted Hjalmarsson.

Sharks basically forced the hawks to choose between hjalmarsson and niemi. Tough decision then and tough decision now.

If given the choice right now, I'd take Hjalmarsson without even thinking.

Yeah, this is wrong. Getting Leddy signed takes first priority over a bunch of replaceable depth guys.
