Yandle is overrated. He is the second most sheltered defenceman in Phoenix. Gets lots of offensive zone starts against easy competition. Pretty much what Wiercioch is except he is a rookie who is still learning.

The most sheltered D-man ? A Mr. David Rundblad.

I think it was pretty much confirmed, except there was flip-flopping between Lehner and Bishop, depending on who you talk to.

So...let me ask you something. Would you give up Michalek for Forsberg? I think that Nashville got a great deal there...maybe Ottawa wasn't really in a position to make an offer, but it would have been a great addition.

Yes. An often injured, close to being UFA player for a top prospect. Easy.

Zib + Bish for Yandle is a much better deal then the above deal, but I don't want to deal Zib whatsoever.
It was only Zib+Lehner+Foligno. They wanted Stone but that was the deal.

Easily. Forsberg is one of my fav prospects, he lacks the necessary IQ but I think he would have developed marvelously under MacLean.

It would of been so nice to have a healthy Michalek at the deadline to see what was out there for him...not necessarily Forsberg but a deal like that, younger less proven but high end upside.... maybe for someone already in the league but unproven....fish around to a team desperate to make the playoffs that needed some scoring....always next year.

...admittedly not a Michalek believer.

Because we obviously aren't a team in need of scoring...

Couldn't find a trade thread so I'll put this here, semi OT

Quote:
Two league sources have told the Free Press Burmistrov, due to become a restricted free agent on July 5, has no intention of re-signing with the Jets.

Burmistrov wished to be dealt at the trade deadline and the Jets worked in vain to move him. It appears a trade is still the preferred course of action.

Burmistrov and head coach Claude Noel beefed on and off over the past two seasons and the relationship hit an all-time low when the player was a healthy scratch four straight games in March.

The Jets attempted to trade Burmistrov and reportedly had discussions with the Ottawa Senators, Buffalo Sabres and New York Islanders at the deadline. The names Jakob Silfverberg, Drew Stafford and Kyle Okposo have all been attached to Burmistrov trade rumours.

If I remember correctly, Ottawa was scouting Burmistrov HARD in 2010. To the point where I recall someone saying he was the type of Russian player BM would take a chance on.

I'm sure the Jets asked for Silfverberg, but that's how you play the game.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ottawa all over this, if only for asset management.

Murray didn't wanna give up Silfv for O'Rielly. Trading him for Burmistrov? BMurr prolly giggled and hung up.

Could be a possible Draft Day move, if the guys we want are off the board ala Rundblad.

Whats a comparable to Burmistov? Never been impressed with him to be honest. Seems a little on the small side.

he is 6'1"

he is pretty much a jack of all trades.

Can play all forward position, plays a good two way game, decent speed, more of a playmaker and has good vision.

Just looked him up. He has back to back seasons of 20 pts over 75-76 games

followed up by a 10 pt season in 44 games. Why the hell is he even being discussed LOL

Plays smaller then. Either way I dont think he's worth Silfvy. Silfvy has been in the leauge 2 less years and had more points in 48 games than Burmistov had in his 75-76 game seasons.

i wouldnt give silfverberg for him but Burmistrov is younger. Next year if he puts up Silverberg type numbers than perhaps we can consider them equal in your mind?

Nope and you clearly didnt read what I wrote.

I know ppl go insane over the age of players but its only a component of development. Getting adjusted to the NHL game is also a huge component and Burmistov has had 3 years of experience playing in the NHL. Silfy has one. So if next year Silfvy and Burmistov put up equal numbers I still woudnt do the trade as with less time in the NHL Silfvy is putting up equal numbers to a 4 year NHL player.

Comparable situation is Couturier and Zibby. Couturier played a full NHL season last year and this year his numbers are lower or comparable to last year. Zibby playing in his first NHL season has the same numbers as Couturier last year (and by default this year) If Zibby doesnt improve on those numebrs next year I would be dissapointed.

Its called Growth

About the same as Kyle Turris. It may be a coaching squabble with Burmistrov too.

I don't know about you guys but Burmistrov is spectacular. Every time I watch Winnipeg play he is also making things happen. If he can change to winger full-time I am ALL in for a trade to land him here. He is a phenomenal both ends of the ice and fully committed to NA game. Datsyuk-lite.

I'd love to land him with his value at the lowest it will be, imo. Again, all dependent if he stays wing. I've seen him really excel at that position. He has spectacular hands, vision, shot, passing, IQ etc...

I'd trade our first for him but not Silfverberg.
