I wouldn't call our win a quality start , except for half our hitters.

That one quality start belongs to Morrow, who got the no decision.

agree. Izturis is much better at 2nd than at 3rd base. I hope AA can find us a quality second baseman, and a lefty power hitter to protect EE.

We need an upgrade in the infield.... it's going to be a long year with Bonifacio as a starter.

What's Roberto Alomar doing these days?

Not sure how yahoo fantasy baseball tracks this stuff, but according to Yahoo both Dickey and Johnson made "quality starts."

As I understand it, a quality start is 6+ innings with three earned runs or less. Johnson and Dickey both gave up four, but were one of them unearned?

Yeah unearned runs. 1 for each I think. A 4.50 ERA is not quality for pitchers of that caliber though.

One of my teams has both Johnson and Dickey on it and I noticed both had recorded "quality starts" this week when I scanned the stats a few minutes ago.

I don't get posts like these. They guy said the start has been ****, and that's a fact.

What does those stats have to do with the Jays starting like ****?

It's only been 4 games. I'll say the same after 10 games too.

Come ***** to me when we hit 30 and are still hovering around .500.

Those teams won the WS in those years.

The bottom line is this: every team in the MLB is going to have a stretch where they win 1 of 4 or 2 of 6. It's just way more magnified when it is happening at the begining of the season. When you're sitting at 45-25, losing 3 of 4 is not that magnified.

I think it's just proof that the "quality start" stat is nonsense.

For example, say Johnson went 9 innings tonight and gave up five hits, four earned runs and struck out 12 and won the game 6-4 - how is that not a "quality start?"

We're considered WS favourites? Those teams won the previous two world series? They both had a bad start to the season? It just shows that teams, no matter how great they are on paper, can't just be expected to set the world on fire right off the bat.

It wasn't until June when SF started separating themselves from .500 ball, and they didn't start becoming a great team until the second half of the season. They were really streaky in the 1st half.

I guarantee you that every single team in the MLB is going to have a 1-3 stretch during the season. Every single team. The Jays have not played well so far. It's a fact, but that does not mean that they will play this way the whole season. 4 games in a MLB season is like a drop in the ocean.

New manager, 14 new players, huge expectations and it's the beginning of the year.

The Jays will be fine, just give it some time.

I do hate that we lost this one. Hopefully, we can take the series win though.

Good god some people can't be happy or even patient for a week. AA needs to make trades blah blah blah. He's made enough of them this off season. How about we get a little into the season before we start to panic.

I'm content with Izturis' offense at 2B, it's about league average; I am, however, concerned with the production or lack thereof at DH. At the very least the Jays should add a platoon DH to play with Lind.

It's not an ideal solution, but until one presents itself, Davis is surprisingly effective against lefties.

I'm not too worried but it does suck to be losing.

Hopefully the pressure doesn't get to them for too long.
