The kid has all the tools, it seemed like something was off mentally this year. For the first time I heard today that he may have been dealing with some off-ice stuff this season, which would make sense.
He was really great last year as a sophomore, possibly even the Gophers best all around defenseman. He can really play when he's on and it wouldn't surprise me if he were able to crack an NHL lineup.
you hope someone can help develop him though i wouldn't hold my breath based on past history. i really would have rather seen lauridesen stay in the ahl this year. even next year rather see him spend top minutes on the top pairing then struggle on the bototm pair in the nhl. hope they dont try to rush this kid
Actually I kind of remember a lot of people being surprised that Alt was included. Not that he was very highly touted but he was still an intriguing talent, just really raw.
Prettymuch this. The guy was a very raw prospect when the Canes drafted him and remained so through as much of his college career as I followed. Biggest reason he was thrown in on the Boosh deal is that he was having a rather horrid first half of the season with the Gophers and was seemingly stagnant developmentally, if not regressed from the prior season where he was a bit of a rock for U of M. Hope he works out for you guys as his athleticism is phenomenal and with that size he could be a solid NHL defender.
