The first tiebreaker at the end of the season is ROWs (regulation + overtime wins).

I hope i am wrong but i can`t even imagine how we will be able to keep up with Detroit and their cake-walk of a schedule. That LA game tomorrow means way more now than it did a few hours ago

Must win.

Did anybody expect Detroit to lose to Colorado? Their schedule gets tougher than people think:

Tough teams
St Louis
San Jose + Chicago back-2-back,
Nashville X2,
Vancouver
Phoenix

Muffins
Calgary
Dallas

Is Nashville still considered 'tough' to the rest of the league?

Also, if we were in the Southeast Division we'd be 3rd place in the Eastern Conference!

Props to Stratedge and Del Preston for really putting the situetion in perspective, awesome job guys

We are not getting much help from other teams needless to say we need the 2 points tomorrow
A loss against the Kings will certainly leave us in a bad position, i hope to see the team play with a sense of urgency and desperation

Must win.

Honestly it's been a must win game every game for weeks now for the Oilers and continues to be until they are out of it.

Teams ahead of them just aren't laying down so the Oilers have to take every game they are in. A loss means not only falling back in pts but also the clock is running out as well.

This is insane, we have literally gotten no help from the out of town scoreboards. We just aren't meant to make it this year.

I agree.

We really have to go 9-2 in our last 11 games, to hit the magic 57 points.

I don't see it happening. But watch us place 9th, and still win the draft lottery.

Also, not to completely jinx it, but for those Must Win games, it seems like in previous years, we would've had injuries to Hall/Nuge Horcoff, a player on a career year like Gagner would get injurred, and Khabby/Hemsky.

Theres nothing insane about it, this is how playoff races usually unfold and people drastically underestimate how difficult it is to catch teams at this time of year.

In another thread I pointed out a week ago that SJ, 5pts clear at the time were not going to be catchable. That only STL and Detroit were even in play for us both which would be tough. Very tough for us to overcome. Thats the trouble when you lead the charge of the lightbrigade to the last minute everything has to go right. Trouble is in a playoff race, and with backteams pressuring, the teams that are in the top 8 spots usually find a way to win and stay there.

Did people think any of SJ, STl, or Det was just going to lay down?

Really?

Also, as recently as days ago people were somehow postulating that as little as 53pts was going to get us in. This is absolutely wrong and nothing less than 56 pts will be required as I stated weeks ago. Mark my word.
