Strome and Konecny will probably both be gone as they should go 1 +2. Maybe Spencer.

You can't expect to ride one line all year long. Anyways this is Boyd's last year of his contract he was probably just thinking to go for it all.
I do agree that this was a rebuild year for this team and the expectation was that they would be mid to lower ranked at the end. You are also correct in that to continually think you can win games with 1 (sometimes 2) lines, it just can't happen. The trade deadline was the beginning of the end for JB and this team as far as I'm concerned. Guys had asked for trades and knowing what he had and looking to the future he should have made some moves. I think it was a purely selfish reason that he didn't, in hopes that he could make the playoffs and secure his own position longer. Unfortunatly he did that at the expense of his team. He knows that and I'm sure the players know it too.

has sean day not gotten exceptional player status

if he does its safe to say 1 of those 2 will be there for steelheads as windsor dosnt get pick this year.

if he dosnt then i guess those 2 go higher up. i still think steelheads would be better off getting impact forward than d this year. McKenzie, Davies, Crouse. would that be too high to pick them?

Steelheads are pretty much head over heels for a defensemen first. Spencer is definitely the head of the list. Especially with the holes left from Percy, Demelo and Cord. If Spencer is gone by their position its best player available.

I don't believe Day got ES, if he has it hasn't been announced. McDavid had it by this time last year. I think Spencer has a team in mind and is playing the schooly route. If the team is Mississauga then he's the pick.

McDavid announcement came the 21st a couple days before the OHL Combine, there is still time. If Mississauga wins today and the Petes lose they clinch.

Missy is going to be in trouble if they make it to the first round playoffs. The schedule is such that if Boyd plays he one line system he's use to they will be drained by game 3. These guys will never be able to play 40 min a game with little to no rest in between.

This must be a first?

The Steelheads clinch the Playoffs as the eighth-seeded team , and should have the 5th overall pick in this years up and coming draft but are lucky enough to get the 4th pick overall due to the fact the Spitfires 1rd draft penalty ! This has to be a first, No team making the playoffs can land a 4th pick! This worked out perfect for the Steelheads! Now let's just hope they draft well this year!!!

What an awesome game tonight ! I had a blast, fans were great and loud! I even heard a Subban chant Tonight ! Boys played a hard fought game and well deserved. That first goal on Tech. was a bad one though but he made up for it. A Cinderella story In the making ? Don't doubt the trout...

I know we are still alive and in the series but I can't help myself looking towards next season. As for the OA situation Smoskowitz is a must have then I would take 2 of Diodati, Foy or Teichmann. For the sake of this post ill say they keep Smosky, Kontos and Diodati as OA goalies can be traded and Foy could be moved.

Heres my potential depth chart

Bourne - Smoskowitz - Burnside
MacIntyre - Kontos - IMPORT
Cobbold - Babinstev - Goldberg
Duhaime - Kopstals - Venuto
Teskey

HM: Berton, Backus, Filson

Carrick - Spencer (if they end up selecting him)
Diodati - Welsh
Zottl - Graves
Bell

HM: DiTomaso, Walsh

Martin
Carty

Obviously a skilled import player would help round out a top 6 forward unit that is not very skilled and the two 2nd round picks we select this year should push for a spot.

Welsh top 4? He has been a healthy the last 10 or 15 games and can't crack the line up in playoffs. He might be a top 6 guy next season, or a strong 7th.

He's not tall but is over 200lbs and very tough. Not much more though.

I'm pretty sure they were up front about playing time before Welsh signed. He came mid season. He hasn't played bad at all. He's a strong kid, but the speed is not there just yet. But for coming in when he did, not a bad season for him, he just need to build from here.

It does seem a bit premature drawing those kinds of conclusions already, no?

Mississauga will be selecting a defensemen. Whether it is Sean Day or Matt Spencer, the Petes will have a saying in that. I've been hearing repeatedly that it will be Spencer but there are always surprises on draft day, I know Strome is a player they would love to have but I doubt he slips past 2.

I would hope but all I saw was toughness. Hope I'm wrong.

With a hard-working summer he can certainly improve his feet. I've seen it happen.

Let's see next season.

Yes it can. I'd love to see it. Kid can certainly hit! Now we need a #1 centre.
