If Backstrom can regain that form he had, especially the chemistry with Ovie, then it's quite possibly him. However its been a few years and Patrick Kane's playing excellently this year as well as being the best player on the best team.

Kane.

Backstrom.

Center, 403 Points in 402 games played, good defensively...

But i would take Kane in the Playoffs over Nick.

As of right now its gotta be Kane. But things change, Backstrom could pass him if Ovi returns to the old Ovi

Kane...not close.

Backstrom has been off for a while now considering where he was a couple of years ago.

Really odd comparision

Different positions , Different roles , Different talent sets

A better comparable would be Backstrom vs Toews

Kane.
I think Toews has been much more consistent.

Backstrom has a higher career ppg, is better defensively, more physical, and kane has been a ghost last 2 years in the playoffs. But kane's had a good year so far so gotta be him.

Someone should start a kane vs kunitz poll while at it

You'll get some flack for that comment, but its true. Kanes having a great year but lets see him do it again before I take him over Backstrom.

The point is that this is overwhelmingly what have you done for me lately sentiment. There were numerous times over the past 2 years when kane was severely criticized for his play.

Backstrom is only 9 points back despite his team being in the toilet for 1/4 of the season and Chicago being historically good this year. It's not like he fell off the face of the earth

Plus didn't Backstrom suffer a concussion last season which really seemed to hurt his production for awhile?

Kane is a joy to watch but in my opinion Backstrom is an all around superior player. They have similar offensive capability but Backstrom is on another level defensively. Although, they do play different positions so the comparison is odd.

What makes Backstrom so special to me is his pure ability to slow down the game. He is one of very few players (Giroux is very similar) that i've seen able to do this. Hes just so calm with the puck

The words "easily" or "AINEC" shouldn't be used in this thread... for either player.

He did, and suffered a neck injury in the KHL during the lockout which appeared to have really affected him also.
