Same here. If I'm trading Couturier I want a defensemen who's at least consistently played at the NHL level.

Hypothetically, if Laughton makes the team next year for good, and we keep Couturier, would it be worth or time to experiment with Schenn again on Giroux's wing opposite Voracek?

I think what is really going to benefit this team going forward is splitting up Voracek and Giroux.

They are our two best forwards and are capable of carrying a line themselves. Schenn was putting up much better numbers when voracek was there. G was struggling, since the two have put together and schenn and giroux's production have gone in opposite directions since.

Put voracek with schenn, and if g struggles then i guess he shouldnt be paid like a number 1.

jake wasn't on pace for this great season before he was put with giroux he had 11 pts in 16 games since he has been with g he has had 27 pts in 21 games and same goes to giroux he wasn't even a ppg till these 2 were put together i can't believe you even think about breaking them up

Voracek started playing much better when he was with B. Schenn, prior to being put with Giroux.

Exactly.

Each line needs atleast 1 player that has the speed and puckhandling ability to get the puck out of the d zone.

Voracek and Giroux are fedotenko are the only forwards that do it on a regular basis. That is one of the reasons why i want to split them up.

I still think if we aren't in the playoffs, we are going to probably be in Nurse/Pulock territory.

I can live with missing the playoffs and landing Nurse but I'm kind of lukewarm on the whole idea of doing it and ending up with Pulock.

That's a pretty big range.

I thought Nurse was about 7th and Pulock was about 10th? Or has Pulock lost stock over the past few weeks?

Some rankings I've seen has Nurse as high as 5.

Edit: Most recent ISS (March edition) has him 5th but come draft time the whole thing is fluid. I honestly see Nurse going anywhere from 5th overall to 10th depending on the draft order.

I'd be happy with Zadorov if we could get him.

I guess it could depend on the team, but my sense was that Pulock would be the 5th defenseman off the board, after Jones, Nurse, Ristolainen, and Zadorov (in some order).

EDIT: Pulock would seem to fall into another tier, with Morrisey and even Mueller.

If we get a top 5 pick, I aim for Jones or Nurse. If it is top 10, I aim for Zadarov. If it is top 15, I aim for Rist. I would say no to Pulock.

that seems pretty high can see us in the single digits, jones would be crazy pumped, nurse would be pumped, risto, zadarov, would be happy with. we gotta build our back end someday, this is the year to do it.

I get it, but at the same time, Gormley is being groomed properly and he's not being rushed into action. He's getting a boatload of playing time in Portland and he's playing in all situations. The only reason he isn't in the NHL is because of his contract. If the Coyotes were owned by anyone other than the NHL, he'd be there. The same can be said about Rundblad. He's refining his defensive game in the AHL and if he were on a one way contract, there's no way he'd be in the AHL and he'd be playing regularly.

I've never been as high on Pulock as others have been. I think he has mid-pairing upside at best. A nice PP asset, but not necessarily a dynamic puck mover. His skating holds him back in that regard. He's much closer to 15 than he is to 5 IMO. Would I hate the pick? No, but there's a handful of other players I'd rather take a chance on with some upside. I know I always bring his name up, but if we end up picking between 10-15, Josh Morrissey is the guy I'm targeting on the backend.

I'm pretty lukewarm on the whole idea of trading Couturier to begin with. If I had to trade him I would want a proven player coming back not potential. Otherwise I don't see the point of trading him if its for a guy with potential. I rather just draft a defender with potential.

Finally got around to watching the CHL Top prospects game that's been sitting in my DVR and I must say, there's going to be some nice names still on the board in the second round.

I like Samuel Morin from the Q. He played pretty well that game from what I can remember.
