Stefan Elliott got recalled. Obviously the organization doesn't have much trust in O'Brien right now. Makes you wonder what they're going to do with him this summer.

I'm also surprised they haven't even given Pock a look in the NHL.
Can't really be worse than Zanon can he?

Seriously though how do they more trust in Zanon than in O'Brien?

I'm not going to say management expressly wanted to tank this year...but almost every decision they've made has benefited the tank. Zanon over SOB just continues the pattern.

It does look that way. And unfortunately that means that somehow they're half satisfied with Zanon.... That's the real bad news here.

Pretty much guarantees Greg Zanon is going to lead us in ice time next season while we tank again and Sherm the Worm preaches patience

Any official word on if Elliott will be playing tonight?

I would assume so.

Its dead obvious that Avs are building the blue line the following way.....

They are signing this cheap dmen who suck, like Zanon until Siemens, Elliott, Barrie are ready for full time NHL.

They are tanking this year to get Jones.

So in the future the Avs D will look like this. ...

Siemens-EJ
Barrie-Jones
Elliott-Wilson / Hejda

Hope Stef comes up and they pair him with Hejda.

He needs a nice confidence boost going into the offseason.

I'd still like to see us sign someone like Scuderi. I wanted Smid before he was signed, but Scuderi's playoff experience would be valuable.

I doubt Barrie switches to the left side, our right side as EJ, Jones, Barrie, with Elliott continuing to develop is pretty nice. We really need another left handed shutdown guy though because Wilson can't seem to stay healthy.

Or we just play EJ and EJ 2.0 together with one of them going to their off hand.

SJ-EJ
Siemens-Barrie
O'Brien/Wilson-Elliott

The Islanders broadcaster just used the phrase "the sadsack Avalanche".

You know you've hit rock bottom when Islanders mock you.

It's ok, we'll sign Streit and go back to the playoff next season and they'll collapse again when Nabby passes out from playing too much.

The #Avalanche recalled defenseman Stefan Elliott earlier today. He will not be in the lineup for tonight's game at Phoenix.
So why call him up today at all?
