Strongest player in the NHL

Suppose there was a powerlifting competition (Squat, Benchpress, Deadlift). Who would win that contest (most weight lifted)? Would it be the heaviest players? Big Buff, Chara etc? Chara would look kind of awkward squatting and deadlifting with his height though, don't think it's optimal.

Also, by weightclass, do ya think crosby would win the ~200lbs class in the squat, must be some power in those legs.

Who else do you think is really strong?

Anyone have proof, maybe pics of nhl players powerlifting, or quotes where they list their personal best?

Chara by weight I believe..

Crosby would be damn good at squatting.

I don't know enough about each individual teams strongest players but for us, Kovalchuk has to be the strongest, especially lower body strength.

That's not that impressive. Maybe for his size but there has to be several guys in the NHL who can do a lot more.

I don't know off hand what each player can individually lift weight wise, but going by sheer physical strength in terms of their play, Doug Murray is a monster. I watched him push Ryan Clowe straight up from a stand still position last night and Clowe slide 10 feet down the ice, lol. And that hit on Boyle..damn. (I know, Boyle is soft as butter)

Most likely an enforcer. Those guys can't afford to not be physical monsters, with all the dedication and occasionally risky behavior that goes along with it. If they aren't huge and strong as oxes, they're essentially out of a job. and most aren't educated/prepared for another job, so they're even more motivated to do whatever it takes.

Doesn't seem like it, but Jagr.

Dude has beast strength in his legs, which explains why he's so good at protecting the puck.

Yup.

Also used Pardy as a human eraser along the glass. Lifted Pardy up 2-3 feet off the ice and was wiped along the glass for another 3.

Huh? It's already been mentioned in this thread, but being tall and lanky makes squatting very hard. Bench press too.

Appropriate is not the first word I would use to describe that photo, however.

Well I don't know about the whole league but for the Sens it's Colin Greening. He's really strong when he wants to be.. sadly he almost never uses his strength or speed to his advantage.
