guy looked good last night.. torts needs to play him moore.. but i think once staal gets back he'll get more time there.. i liked how he was getting involved in the offense a little bit more and hes such a good skater.. when he went in on that rush it was going to be an odd man rush the other way and he got back which is cool to see, not many dman can do that...

So far I like what I've seen from John Moore and he's not a finished product but there are strong hints of the kind of player he's more likely to become. I don't think he's going to be a big point producer and I don't think he's going to be the most physical player either. His skating might remind some of McDonagh but I don't think he's going to be quite as physical. Positionally he seems very good but he strikes me right now as more of a stay at home than McDonagh. Doesn't remind me of Staal all that much.

For now he's on the bottom pair and doing very well in the short period of time he's been here. I much prefer him over Bickel, Gilroy, Hamrlik. He needs some work though.

He's a year younger and hasn't been in New York for a week yet. Give the kid some time.

Huh?

Torts always uses the the top 2 pairs for 80% of the 3rd period, Moore is not in any doghouse.

That one play where he comes in from nowhere on the offense and gets the chance, misses and then flies back to even up the rush on defense was very reminiscent to McDonagh.

Maybe a poor man's Scott Nieidermayer. According to John Moore, the player he tries to emulate.

When Staal comes back who sits?

Moore has really shown himself to be a reliable defensemen and should get more playing time.

Obviously McD, Girardi and MDZ are going nowhere. Stralman, Eminger and Moore have all proved themselves useful. It's a good problem the Rangers have.

I would guess it would be Moore.

Yeah Torts is a coward. He'll be scared that the kid might make a mistake or 2 but would sacrifice what could probably be the better player. Hate how he coaches with fear.

Moore will not be sat, it will be Eminger. Moore wont be eligible for the AHL playoffs and im not even sure he can be sent down without having to go through waivers. (someone clarify that please?)

So Torts isnt going to just have a developing player sit on the sidelines for the last month of season.

I would assume they will pair Moore with Staal, and in the 3rd period probably move Staal with DZ or Girardi and move Stralman back with Moore to play limited ice.

Tortorella will put out the lineup he feels gives him the best opportunity to win. As any coach would in that situation.

And I object to the thought that you can't learn anything unless you're playing in a game. Practicing with the team and watching them up close in the NHL playoffs would be a totally new experience for him.

Im not saying he wont learn anything from just watching, but he sure as hell will learn a lot more playing and getting the experience.

Regaurdless, Moore has outplayed Eminger anyway so I dont think it will be a tough decision for Torts.

Eminger has played more in than Moore in each of the three games so far, so I definitely don't think it's a slam dunk.

True, but Eminger is known to have stretches of a few below average games from time to time, so that could open the door for Moore.

He is a dman that played 10 minutes all game against the Pens and then 7 minutes all game vs the Hurricane.

It will probably be Eminger who sits but I'd prefer it be Stralman.

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-MDZ
Moore-Eminger

I'd be very okay with this in the playoffs. Stralman definitely brings some offense into the equation but I'm not very fond of some of the decisions he makes in our own zone.
