this is our Larrson replacement btw, looking at his stats he seems to generate offense, he should be available in the 3rd round or maybe 2nd

Larsson could have been traded because we had the depth. Trading Phillips would cut into that depth.

correct.. but I think it makes a lot of sense if they Wild can find a trade partner. Calgary might want a lot more picks than just theirs in the 1st round and the #29 as well. We can send another nice package to another team. who knows. again throwing darts
It doesn't make sense for Minnesota. If we keep eating into our assets, we'll go into debt.

we have a long way to go before we have prospect issues. We have a solid 5 year window right now with our current NHL roster and prospects. Not sure why anyone is really THIS worried.

Fletcher got us to this point, maybe show some trust in him knowing what he is doing.

We have depth but some parts are a lot more shallow than others. And other parts of the team are breaking down quicker than expected.

Overall no but our center depth did take a huge hit this year.

I agree that we should hold on to Phillips for a while...His value is low, so we might as while see if he can turn into something down the road.

Top five drafting order as of 4/6 and my guesses as to who they take:

1. Colorado Seth Jones
2. Florida Nathan MacKinnon
3. Calgary Jon Drouin
4. Tampa Bay Darnell Nurse
5. Carolina Sean Monahan

Top three is just too perfect for who they all get. Seems obvious to me.

Definitely an interesting player, he is not a good skater though and he's had some pretty serious injuries in the past. High risk guy with excellent hockey sense and playmaking ability, he is great on the dot and on the PP.

Sounds too much like Granlund/Phillips to me, I'll pass.

We need a scorer or a power forward.

So do you think Fletcher will sit still and just wait until our 2nd round pick comes up in the draft, or will he try to trade up to the first round?

Otherwise .... what kind of players are we looking at with the 45th - 55th pick in the draft?

....or he might package that pack along with a player/prospect for a top 4 defenseman. My feeling is that someway, somehow, Fletcher will trade for a blueliner on draft day or later as there is no one really worth pursuing in the UFA market.

If it's a pure scorer you're after, I don't think you could go wrong with selecting Taylor Cammarata. If he was bigger, he would be a sure fire 1st round selection...He was a teammate of Nathan Mackinnon at Shattuck and outscored him by a large margin. He's leading the USHL in scoring right now and will be a freshman at Minnesota in the fall.

Obviously, he's not someone who would be ready to step into the NHL for at least 3-4 years as he would have to get MUCH stronger. But he might be the best pure scorer in the draft.

Good ones. Deep draft, and I wouldn't be surprised if Flahr and Co. took some longer term development (i.e. NCAA bound) players like last year.

Edit: This was meant for the off-season thread; doesn't make sense now that it got moved. Carry on!

But back on topic...do I really have to go back to pretending I give a **** about prospects again?
