No, but yes.

No because they'd have to sign him to a three-year entry-level contract which would violate NHL/KHL MOU.

Yes because if Caps can give guarantees that they will return him and Traktor finds them sufficient, Traktor may choose not to suspend his transfer. Otherwise the "Prokhorkin case" is a precedent for this situation.

Kuznetsov was on team's reserve list as a draft picks, so no NHL rules can prevent him from playing (see: Kreider).

Wouldn't it be a 2-year ELC for him anyways if he waited until summer '14 to sign? I mean, it gives him an extra bit of signing bonus of course so there's that.

Yeah, I was thinking he'd already be eligible for a two-year ELC next spring but he wouldn't be.

x2 on needing Traktor's say-so but you'd assume they'd grant his request should it be final and that Washington make whatever reassurances necessary.

Ok I am confused. I was under the impression that Kuznetsov's contract with Traktor ends at the end of the '13-'14 KHL season/playoffs. Is this not the case? If it is the case would they need their approval simply because KHL contracts run to a certain date and technically he would still be under contract even after Tractor's season/playoffs ends?

Contracts go to April 3rd. Not really sure what these guys are referring to though...

There's no may he is getting a 3 year ELC, he is either signing with the guarantee he will play, or just wait and turn 22.

Anyways... 1 assist in Game 7 for 5:3 win over Barys. Play Avangard now, who went to 7 against Avangard. 1g 1a in 7 GP.

Unfortunately Metallurg eliminated... Was hoping Kuzya would get to play the big rival team in the playoffs and shine.

1 goal in 4-0 win... 4-1 series win over Omsk. Their goalie had a shutout in all 4 wins too...

Traktor now in the ECF again.

Fedfed, is there any word on the KHL schedule next year as far as season ending before or after the Olympics? I know in 09-10 they played 3 more after, but I would think with the Olympics being so close they could they wouldn't have to go on the Olympics break so early...

Bump.
Kuznetsov with a lone Traktor goal in the 1st game of Gagarin Cup finals (1-2 loss to Dynamo Moscow, the reigning defending champions); a PP one-timer form the right board.
Kuzya is now at 10 (5+5) points and -2 in 20 games.

Really hope Traktor wins so Kuz can finally conclude this KHL era of his life and move on to the best league in the world!

Those seem like less than impressive numbers for a guy we think is going to come over here and be a difference maker.

Of course, but I'd rather him just win it this year and get that Gagarin Cup on his resume.
The worst case scenario would be if Traktor loses a heart breaking series this year, comes back with a vengeance to win it next year and loses in the conf. finals/ finals AGAIN, and thinks he has some sort of obligation to the Chelyabinsk folk to stay another 2 years to win it for them.
Best case, he wins it this year, makes the Olympic squad next season with the Russian team actually showing up to play unlike in Vancouver . Then he finds he has nothing else to prove in Russia, having won their 3 most important honors (WC, GC and possibly the Olympic Gold) and flies across the pond.

Yeah, he looks like he's having off-ice problems to me. The talent is there, but things just don't click for him. Hopefully it's just a phase.

Reason #736263 why tanking is moronic. Guys that are supposed to be the future might never get over a bad break up or something, and you're SOL. You can only count on what you've got now. The future is never predictable.

Relax. He is saving himself so he can tear up the Channel One Cup with the Kostitsyns this year.

Kostitsyns are from Belarus. They can't play in the Channel One Cup.

Maybe if Paul Ranger had appeared in the Channel One Cup a little more you would have known who he was.
