Excellent news on Stolarz. Hopefully he at least reaches his floor potential and becomes the next Henrik Lundqvist.

Man, I know it's early. Really early but so far so good for Stolarz. Hopefully he can make us all eat crow on the Bob trade.

I remember people on the prospects board were questioning his move to the OHL from the NCAA.

I would say he handled it fine and even elevated his game in London.

I really think he has a shot to beat out gillies for the starting role for team usa next year.

If he keeps playing like this, I don't see how he couldn't be the starter.

He has a shot but Gillies had a pretty damn good year with a young Providence team and is a returning player. I think being a returnee is what gives Gillies the upper hand right now.

I definitely think he has the inside track for one of the two goaltender spots so far. Outside of him and Gillies there's no close to their talents. Colin Olson is the only guy I can think of that would be considered with them two and that's mostly because he was a former USNTDP player. The goaltending pool for this WJC's lacks depth compared to last year. Who knows though Gillies could regress next year for all we know.

I'm hoping he gets the starter spot though. It will make the WJC's even better to watch next year.

I'm reading Cousins is on a line with Fitzgerald and Mathers tonight. That sounds pretty damn stupid.

Making him earn the minutes? That's best reason I can come up with.

It is amusing, though those types of threads typically yield some laughable prediction attempts. Basically, they all have on average, 10 of each teams current best prospects thrown into the lineup, which is conceivably nearly impossible.

To have ever considered Matsumoto, Kempe, Kalinski, Bodrov, Lehtivuori, and Deserres prospects that are NHL-capable just goes to show how much of a crapshoot the NHL draft is and how few prospects ever amount to anything (and how much of a joke this message board is ).

There's a Matt Read thread on the prospect board from when he first got signed that gets bumped frequently for laughs. The OP goes on a crazy rant about how dumb of a signing it is by Homer and how Read won't amount to anything.

Uh actually the prospects you named had high hopes. Bodrov was supposed to be a top paring d man.

Let Cousins piss everyone off and let Fitz and Mathers destroy everyone who goes after him? He'll get his shot.

What? IIRC, the Bodrov pick came completely out of nowhere. Its ridiculous to think anyone realistically had expectations for Bodrov to become a top pairing defensmen in the NHL.

To the others: all those guys were long shots or project ptospects, at best.

If any of them had high hopes associated with them, it was Marshall, Bourdon, and Eriksson.

Wellwood cut on the back of the leg .

@dianacnearhos: Tomorrow, Wellwood will have another surgery to repair the tendon damage.

Your thinking of Popov. Bodrov went back to Russia because of his wife.

I don't remember any of us thinking Kalinsky would ever be higher then a 4th liner and the majority felt Matsumoto would never be given a fair shake. Bodrov was supposed to be great as was Marshall, Sunshine, and parent. I give him props for having Rinaldo on the 4 th line. Very few people in 08 would have had him in the lineup.

Parent's back injury completely messed up anything he would of had for a career in the NHL. Marshall just fell on his face and Sunshine was a victim of stupid contract management.
