After watching both videos you're right they are very similar. Both Richards and Del Zotto stuck their elbow out as they were getting ready to receive the hit. Richards got a 5 minute major and tossed from the game but didn't receive a fine or suspension. So who knows how Del Zotto will fair with Shanny?

Lol, everyone took the words outta my mouth about the Pens/Rags game.

From the horrific broadcasting to the satisfaction of Neal getting a taste of his own medicine.

Del Zotto elbow on Neal from last night.

Richards elbow on Kaleta from the 2011 Playoffs.

In both cases I'd say they were trying to get an arm up to shield themselves and the angles/positioning didn't work out.

I believe St.Laurent was the ref who made that call on Richards. The same ref who was part of the crew that lost control of game 3 last year.

Neal getting some of his own medicine. Maybe this will teach him to stop targeting other players' heads. I doubt it though.

It has been posted in a few different threads now. It's all good, I just don't find it funny anymore.

damn those 3pt games. rangers lost which is a good thing for the flyer's playoff hopes but it had to be in OT. the NHL is so stupid with this loser point bull. go to a 3pt game format or do away with loser points. the fact that a team can have more wins but less points than another team is so stupid

They aren't loser points.

IIRC, never in the NHL history have you not been rewarded with 1 point for being tied at the end of 5 on 5 hockey, the same as you have now. The idiocy is not having it be 3 points for a regulation win, 1 point for a regulation tie, and 1 point for winning the tiebreaking gimmick.

This makes too much sense.

I believe that the consensus is that the NHL prefers the standings stay a bit tighter--so that more teams appear closer to the playoffs in the final weeks of season.

Jagr not looking like a great fit on the Bruins. They had him playing on the third line most of the game today.

I would hate the sideshow shootout a lot less if they awarded 3 points for a regulation win. Making it the same value is ridiculous.

I wish we would have made a play for Brent Burns a few years back... he did not even cost the Sharks that much and he is awesome. He really would be the perfect Flyer as well, and exactly what our back end needs, big, strong, positionally aware PMD who can hit, fight and has a ridiculous point shot. If he plays forward he would probably be a 2nd liner who gets 50+ points as well... now that is talent.

Plus his NHL profile pic is probably the best ever.

I have probably said this 2-3 times before on this board, but it is silly how underrated he seems to be around the league... probably due to how often he is injured. Really is a joy to watch.

Fla win over Ott helps us both ways. Markstrom won that game.

Florida won 4 out of their last 5. They're really screwing themselves out a top pick.

Panthers are probably tired of top picks. They have had quite a few the past few years.
