I could see the Oilers overpaying to get Clarkson. He's exactly what they need to add to their top 6.

Despite how bad he's been this year I still think he can be a great player if he's put in the role he was meant to play, and that is a 3rd liner. He's not a top 6 forward and unfortunately teams will give him that kind of money.

I hope the Devils let him walk simply because he isn't worth the $4mil+ he'll get on the open market.

I'd give him Volchenkov's contract after we amnesty him. $4.25 for 5-6 years. Ideally 3-4.

Point is sign Clowe and sign Clarkson. Offer Clarkson 3.5 for 3-4 years and lock up Clowe

Clowe,Dorsett and Clarkson, just changes the whole appearance of the Rangers. Makes NYR one tough team to play against
Go for another one of our re-treads, this one won't annoy me much

You're going to have to offer much more than 3.5M though, considering he would easily stay with us for that amount of money. The Devils will offer up to 4.5M IMO. He loves it here and is BFFs with Marty, so I'm not even sure if he'd go to the Rangers in the first place.. but it's going to take more $$$ to pull him there.

Philadelphia Flyers will sign him to a 36.4M over 7 year (5.2M/year) contract. He will start the season with 0G in 10gp. Flyers will trade him to the Florida Panthers for a 1st and Nick Bjugstad.

I think the JVR contract is fair but maybe shorter term. Something like 5 years, 21 million. 4.2 per year. I think someone will offer him 5 though. My guess is washington.

I don't see the fascination with this guy. Hope the Leafs pass on showing any interest.

Old Stajan yes this year he has been great. There is a reason why he is a +5 on a -34 team and its not because he is a ppg.

5 per? Clearly some of you have never watched him actually play on a consistent basis...or you think some GM's are mentally handicapped.

Not much... I don't see his skills flourishing on another team. He has been great for New Jersey, but how well would a guy with ok at best hands, ok at best vision and terrible skating do in another system?

I'd go 3 x 3, but the Kings really don't have a place for him right now.

What it will cost to sign Clarkson scares me give the potential to backfire.

Wow, good for him then. Matt Stajan always had the offense, he was just bad defensively for the Leafs.

Nice to see him improve. I still think he's a #2C.

$4M sounds about right. Adjusting for UFA overpayment of course. His real value is closer to $3M.

First of all.

He is strictly RW, he took faceoffs for Devils in the right circle on the PP last year while Zajac was out, and was horrific at them.

Whoever signs him for anything more than 3.5 is going to regret it. He has to be one of the dumbest and klutziest hockey player I have ever seen. He will just fall down for no reason, go offsides for absolutely no reason, make the stupidests passes or shots when there are guys wide open.

He's good as a third/fourth line forward. He will crash the net, get deflections, put pucks on net. As a top six forward, he doesn't have the offensive mindset or hockey sense to play top six minutes.

Doing those things at a roughly 50 pt pace with roughly a 30 goal pace over the past two years is a top 6 forward. If he was smart along with that, he'd be a top line forward.
