Regular season, Subban and very easily.
Playoffs: Doughty, he went into beast mode last year and I expect it again
Doughty right now isn't far off from his playoff level, just less often on the stats sheet. This season is the best thing that ever happened to him, with Mitchell and Greene out and a rookie on his pairing. He's become pretty much mistake-free, it's like watching a robot out there, just zero mistakes everything executed to a tee. I can't even remember the last unsuccessful breakout by Doughty, always on tape breakouts to a free guy, will slow down, change angles, or skate it out depending on options, it's beautiful to watch, zero panic whatsoever, he's the smartest defenseman in the league. Once his points pick up a little he will be the consensus best defenseman in the league.
I'm confused. What made you change your mind from Subban AINEC+1 to this in one page?
Its really close for me, ultimately I chose Subban. He's having the better year and is a playoff performer, albeit perhaps less than Doty, plus I love me some PK Subban.
Lol good eye...I was thinking of just editing that post not to look like an idiot but someone had quoted that one. I got bored recently and watched a few of LA's games and highlights on their road to the cup. Points aside, Doughty just played unreal and brought his defensive game to a new level and I've seen all this from Subban in the regular season but not in the playoffs so far. I guess we'll all have to wait until the playoffs start to see if Subban improved from his last two playoff appearances (I'm hoping he did). I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Subban being the best player for the habs though, I'd love to see that actually.
Love Doughty but i'll keep PK even if Drew won it all last year. PK showed he can play in big game 2-3 years ago in the playoffs as well pairing up against the Caps and Pens top lines and also still produce offensively. Can't go wrong with either to be honest but I do think PK brings a bit more energy to the game
