Here is Dorse's replacement short term. That is what it looks like to me.

We still need toughness.

Jacket's fans, please don't listen to ignorant posts like this, Comeau was a whipping boy from the start due to unrealistic expectations in Calgary.

-------------------------------------------------

Here is the skinny on Blake Comeau.
  • He will be one of your hardest working players every single game.
  • He plays fairly physical and will rack up 2-3 hits per game.
  • He skates very well, has great speed.
  • He is a RH shot that plays both wings.
  • He is a good penalty killer, ideally he will be on the 2nd unit.
  • He has a nice hard shot, but does lack some accuracy.
  • He helps create a ton of offensive chances.
  • He can be very frustrating because he doesn't have the finish despite the number of chances he is involved in.
  • He is an okay 3rd liner, but best suited for a 4th line energy role. He will produce 5-10 goals and 15-20 points over a full season for you if he is retained.

I am disappointed to see him go because his work ethic is something the Flames really lacked. Best of luck to Blake, I hope he does well for you guys.

Thanks! Sounds like you are describing Dorse! Hopefully a good replacement.

Skating, physical, hard-working. Sounds like our roster.

If you can get past the missed offensive opportunities you will love him.

Also sounds like our roster.

But seriously, I don't think he was added for the scoring opps.

Huse doesn't deserved to be lumped with that piece of trash. Your connecting them in any way disturbs me.

Good, because that's why he was disliked in Calgary, people saw a former 20 goal scorer and expectations got too high despite the fact he was claimed of waivers.

Best of luck..... but not too much because we would like the Blues to make the playoffs so we can have their 1st this year

There was a time when Blake Comeau was one of the top players in all of junior hockey. I can remember him being an elite two-way player, a solid second round pick for the Isles ... he even got off to a decent start in the NHL.

I don't know what happened, but somewhere along the way, he turned into Colton Gillies...

Kinda sounds like Chimera's last year or so here. And I know people miss Chimmer. Seems like he'll fit in here.

Here is why I like this move: Jarmo made it in response to trading Dorse. This is what he says:

"He is something that we needed to add after giving up those players (for Gaborik)," Kekalainen said. "Dorsett obviously is a physical player that we lost in this deal. Blake Comeau hits hard and plays a physical game but he can also score some goals. Heís a guy thatís going to fill an important role for us."

That's per PuckRakers, http://bluejacketsxtra.dispatch.com/...to-flyers.html

I'm sorry to lose Dorsett, I really liked him on this team. Even though he's been out, he's valuable. I think he's going to do well in NY.

And the Dorse=Boll comparison doesn't fit. Dorse > Boll, if you ask me. They may have been redundant in a way, but they were not interchangeable. Dorse can just do more than Boller; he's going to generate more scoring.

I like that Jarmo seems to have recognized that, and made a move that addressed the trading of Dorsett. Who knows if Comeau can capture our hearts the way Dorsett did, but this is good testimony:

Dorsett was out for the season and Comeau was set to become a UFA after this season. With Jarmo's comments, I wonder if they plan on offering him a new contract or if it's going to be a "wait and see how he does" situation.

You think Jenner could fill in as Dorsett's role next year if he has a strong camp? I know in the juniors he's a scorer but for Team Canada, it seemed like was put in a role as a checking grinder.

Needed another Forward without continuing to plunder Springfield during their good run this season. Makes sense.

Ok with the move.

5th rounder imo ain't nothing if Comeau can take roster spot and play with his strenghts. Maybe he just needs a change and JK has seen Comeau playing quite a lot in the past.

The problem with Comeau is that fans were expecting him to regain that 20 goal form, Calgary picked him up as waiver wire fodder, I've yet to see the guy take a shift off, always skates hard, finishes his checks, great 4th liner imo, can fill in as a solid 3rd liner.

Hope he works out for you guys, Calgary has alot more players that I would have preferred they move for a 5th.
