Emelin has a torn ACL. Season over for him

Hopefully Diaz is back soon. Can't say Emelin was playing that good in the last few weeks, but his minutes will have to be eaten by someone else. It will be tough, but in no way is it a back-breaker.

If it's a partial tear the recovery is much, much faster. Good thing is that Markov will offer some solidarity for the guy.

Of course, it's unfortunate to lose him and I'm not happy about this. But he's been having a rough stretch for quite some time now. I just hope we don't replace him with Kaberle or Weber.

"déchirure ligamentaire" means it is a tear.

I guess it's going to depend on how Beaulieu finishes the year. I don't think Therrien is scared to use a rookie going into the playoffs so all depends on Beaulieu's play IMHO

Tinordi, Beaulieu, and Kaberle.

You'll be relied upon at different points of the play-offs.

That sucks. AT least we have some depth now that we haven't had in the past.

Drewieski should be able to pair well with Markov (doesn't everyone!) and Beaulieu looked good in the games he played.

Thankfully we haven't had any major injuries to our key players this year like we did last year. I hope the trend continues and we can plug the lineup and compensate.

Bourque is coming back and Diaz isn't far behind.

Well it looks like we have some rookies that will have a chance to do what Subban did in his rookie playoff campaign.

Sucks to hear about Emelin, but the way he went down in agony, it was quite clear it wasn't a bump and bruise. I hope he stays in NA over the summer rehabbing, not too sure how good the doctors are over in Russia, maybe better? I have no clue.

Well, that, and also Diaz's recovery, which is said to be going fine.

There is no such thing as a partial tear of the ACL...or any ligament for that matter.
Think of it like one of those nylon ropes.... they tear, and sure it's partial, but it only gets weaker with every second.

The only option is a repair...

The thing that bothers me the most is that the hit itself should have never happened.

Therrien told both him and Subban to let the hits come to them. On that play, Emelin made a bee-line for Lucic and went for the hit to completely destroy him. I admire him for taking on the challenge and had he knocked him on his ass, it'd be a different story. Unfortunately it's not and Emelin made the wrong play -- in terms of what the coach requested.

Hope he recovers well. Can't wait to see him back next year.

Diaz and Beaulieu on our second PP unit sounds quite nice. Problem is I don't like the Cube on the PK. Emelin really hurt us with respect to size and toughness. I liked Tinordi game when he was called up, I still don't know what MTs problem was with him, the Crosby goal wasn't his fault yet after that he played sparingly.

I agree. Exactly what came through my mind when I saw the play and the result, too.

Second time this season a habs hurts himself:

First, Prust hitting the board by his own, then Emelin hitting a board named lucic!

As was said, he hadn't been playing well lately anyway, but this still hurts. Hopefully someone can take those minutes over and be as effective, or more.

Regardless, I like Emelin a lot and I'm going to miss him. I hope he'll be okay and ready to go again soon.

Time for either Kaberle or Tinordi to step up. Pair Markov with Diaz when he's back.

Markov-Diaz
Gorges-Subban
Bouillon-Drewiske/Kaberle/Tinordi
