@NHL: Since picking up his 666th win, Martin Brodeur is 0-3-4, which is the longest winless streak of his career. #NJDevils

Atleast there will be no more top seeds per division next year. Caps should not be in 3rd place.
The problem isn't the "loser" point itself. You deserve a point for the tie in real hockey and should not get nothing for losing in a gimmick like the shootout. The problem is, that these games are worth more than real wins. Actually winning by playing hockey has to be worth more than winning the shootout or losing it twice. Three point games are the obvious solution, but the NHL will never adopt it as the current system keeps the playoff race tight. Exhibit A: The 2013 Debbies

Well, basically I've been saying the same thing since the new system was adopted.

Win a game in 60 minutes: 3 points
Win a game in OT or Shoot-out: 2 points
Lose a game in OT or Shoot-out: 1 point
Lose the game in 60 minutes: 0 points

That way, in every game, 3 points are awarded and teams will actually work harder in the final minutes of reg. time for that extra point.

Is this different from any other years? They've never scored goals.

Seeing that "X" next to the Penguins name in the standings is vomit inducing.

I hate that franchise.

That sucks about Neal. Seems once again that the league's best team, or second best, isn't going to be at full strength in the post-season.

Oh well. I'd maybe care if they weren't a bunch of dirty cheapshot artists, but, well, they are. Hope the players heal up and all, but I definitely do not feel bad for the Pens.

Rangers need to take advantage; outside of Pittsburgh, no team in the East really scares me.

Sucks that he got hurt, but after all that ******** he pulled against the Flyers last year, I'm not shedding any tears.

But he was only jumping to transition from defense to offense....

Habs' Emelin out for season with knee injury http://*******/10LIiyW @Sportsnet #Montreal
Emelin is out for the Habs. That's a big blow for them. He adds a lot of physicality to their back-end. ~20 minutes a night with no PP time.

That means one of the following will be playing in the playoffs:
Drewiski
Kaberle
Tinordi
Beaulieu

Emelin is redundant to them. They still have Gorges and Subban, two stud top pairing defensemen.

Gorges really isn't top pairing. He's a very good second pairing defensive player.

Well, what it means for us is that Montreal gets even smaller and less nasty on the backend. A team with a good forecheck and some big, physical wingers should be able to take advantage of them. They're a good team, but I don't think they're ready to contend just yet.

I was going to post this but thought it would be deleted. So tagging onto a Mod so i know i'm safe, I agree

Couldn't care less about any Pens injuries, specifically to one of their more well known cheap shot rats.

Emelin is not redundant at all. He consistently gets matched up against the other teams big forwards. That's a big loss.

The good news is there aren't any threads on the main board calling for Del Zotto's head yet

Hope Neal gets better

Gorges is akin to their Girardi imo. Very underrated player outside of that fanbase.

I think Emelin is very underrated and was carried by his stud defense partner, Andrei Markov. Raphael Diaz is a nice PMD that did play top minutes with Markov on the PP and will likely fill the void when he returns from injury. But yeah, they definitely did get a lot less meaner.
