Three separate bets...

Canucks were 13 to 1
Kings were 14 to 1
Capitals were 28 to 1

I thought those three teams offered the best value. So many teams are overvalued right now.

Pens 3.5 to 1
Hawks 4 to 1
Ducks 9 to 1
Bruins 9 to 1

I snagged him in the second round

Some of my friends laughed at the pick saying he was going to decline even more. I love the Caps so I wondered if it was a homer pick or if I actually thought he would do well.

If anything, Oates was going to improve him, which he has. Once Washington decided to focus on defense, they've gone into the *******. Never be something you aren't and never base your entire outlook based on three games.

And just like that, Washington rockets straight to third seed. Jeez, that Southeast division is horrible.

So glad it is going to be history next year.
Other than the Bolts and Canes winning it all...
The Southeast had always been terrible.

Yup, it's hard to believe that posters earlier in the season were actually trying to make the case that the NW was the worst division. NW has 2 solid playoff teams, one bubble team and two bottom feeders. The SE has 13th 14th and 15th place team, and Washington and Winnipeg are bubble teams at best.

Another thing, what happened to Carolina and Tampa Bay this season? Tampa didn't get any goaltending, but what about the Hurricanes? I remember our pre-season prediction thread, while we had Florida dropping like a stone, we also had Carolina winning the division and Tampa grabbing the last playoff spot iirc and the Jets missing.

Cam Ward got injured and then Dan Ellis(who was playing well) did too. They've been playing Justin Peters for like two-three weeks now I think. They were well in the playoff picture and would've secured a spot pretty easily. Huge window opened up for Ovi and co to get hot at the right time and go for a div title.

Pierre McGuire: DET had a way better offer in his opinion than STL had for Jay Bouwmeester. Discuss?

Ovechkin has scored in 9 of his last 11 games, in those 9 games he scored, he has 13 goals total.

OV is back, at least for the time being.

McGuire has a huge fetish for prospects, chances are DET's offer was based around one of their top prospects and not a 1st.

Feaster took the 1st in a deep draft but still gave away JBouw for far less than he's worth. A top 30 dmen should fetch similar to what Pominville received.

To be honest, I would've rather taken one of Detroit's top prospects like Nyquist. Feaster went with the 'mystery box'.

But the mystery box could be anything!! It could even be a Nyquist! You know how they've always wanted one of those!

The contract sucks, pretty good to be rid of it for Calgary. Pominville deal was great for Buffalo return wise, better contract as well though. I think Roy returns should have been higher than it was even though he is a UFA. Pommy's contract is full price so paying extra assets for extra years does not seem a big benefit. Minny could use Roy more than Pommiville now, their center depth is not great.

1st round picks have more liquidity if Calgary wants to do future trades. Teams might not agree about a prospect but they all agree that a first round pick has value and they can choose their favorite. For this reason you see first round picks traded a lot more than top prospects.

Another point Detroit must value their 1st higher than their prospect or they just would have just offered their first.

That 1st round pick could easily be flipped for an established player, especially with the cap coming down. A prospect is like selling a house with a pool, you are limiting your buyers.

Hilarious if true. Not just because the return would be better but because they would have shipped him outside the conference which is always a better thing to do.
