He's been very solid, much to my chagrin.

He's big but doesn't seem to get rattled (although I'm hoping the Rangers park someone's behind in his face all night tonight to bother him a bit). He also has a very strong team in front of him, which has helped his stats quite a bit. London has the best defensive forward in the league (in my opinion) in front of him, along with a couple of other very good defenseman - a luxury he won't have in Philadelphia or Adirondack in the foreseeable future.

I'm hopeful but cautiously optimistic. He looks good, but it's early to tell what he'll be like without a strong defense in front and/or forwards who can score almost at will to give him room to make an error and not lose the game.

I assume that will go into next season (if he is there)?

@ToddCordell
I think Laughton has a very good chance making the #Flyers next year, so his #OHL career is probably over with that suspension.

Exactly. The consensus is that Stolarz has a very, very, very bright future, but he needs to play and play lots. The thinking is to let him use all his junior eligibility and then let him play in the AHL for a couple of seasons. Stolarz hasn't played much high level hockey and the Flyers want him exposed to the highest and best levels as possible before claiming an NHL job. It's a good path of development they have him on.

Irregardless. Laughton targeted the guy's head. That's something that needs to be addressed by the Flyers organization. I have no problem with a player playing on the edge, but head shots are a no no. There's no need for that. Laughton's a very skilled and gritty forward that doesn't need to resort to cheap tactics like that. That's bush league. I like Laughton (I really like Laughton to be honest), but this is something that Laperriere and the Flyers organization will have to address.

That's 2 suspensions this season. Let's just hope he's learned from both and will be a bit more careful. Im sure Lappy will talk to him about it.

Anyway Oshawa's next game is Tuesday hopefully they lose so Laughton can join the Phantoms ASAP.

Well Stolarz gave up 2 goals on the first 2 shots in tonight's game. 1 of them was on the PP.

Stolarz ended up getting yanked in the 2nd period tonight. He stopped 16 of 20. His backup Jake Patterson gave up a goal on the first shot he faced also.

Nope. Much like the AHL and NHL don't honor each others suspensions if a player gets called up or sent down. Think Harry Z earlier this year when he kept getting called up and sent down during his 4 game suspension. Laughton's suspension would carry over to next year in the OHL though if he's not playing in the NHL.

Oshawa's down 3-0 and playing tomorrow so hopefully they lose so he can get to Adirondack some time this week.

Add him to mix and suddenly the Phantoms are getting some formable lines up there in Adirondack.

Roe-Laughton-Akeson
Alderson-Cousins-Flanagan
Harper-Noebels-Laliberte
Sim-Brown-Johnston

Or you could do
Alderson-Laughton-Akeson
And call the line "the sons of Laughton" or "tons-a-sons"

Thank you. I am pulling for your ranger team but I want to see Anthony do well. Looks as though you got to him tonight. However I hope in a few years he may make the big club. Good Luck the rest of the series.

Yes, and it was lovely.

I did notice tonight that when the puck is near Stolarz' feet, he really struggles with it. I don't know if that's a result of his size (he's freakin' HUGE in the net) or a confidence thing.

Yeah, I know he's "only" 6'3", but he looks like Pekka Rinne or Lindback in there.

Is this the end of this season?

If so (slightly realistic, slightly not):

Akeson-Laughton-Cousins
Sim-Flanagan-Noebels
Alderson-Bordson-Roe
Mathers-Harper-Mangene

Noebels has been playing on the wing for the most part in the AHL which is good news. I think Flanagan will have to move to wing if he wants to make the NHL. Way to small for a center even if his playmaking skills are great.
