Dumont...

is coming to Montreal! That's right. Steve Begin wants him here, so it will happen.

Cool, he not gonna take ice time of guy like Kostsistyn, Latendresse or Chipchura, whoever gonna take a spot. I hope more ice time for Plekanec, Perezhogin and still use Higgins in 3 situation, ES, PP and PK.

On that

I'm so exiting about the next season, can't wait more. I buy a lot of magazine with crazy predictions, but anyway its always funny to see what they expect from a player sometime they're right, sometime not, prediction are made for that.

The original Dumont thread was closed because it was a road to nowhere.

Just an idea.
Dumont - Koivu - Ryder
Samsonov - Higgins - Kovalev
We would need to find Ribs a new home. He'll have a heck of a time keeping up with Sam and Kov. If he stays he should switch places with koivu. What do you guys think?

Dumont can go play elsewhere, we don't need him.

You know, just because a guy speaks french doesn't mean we should get him. Guys like Gagne, Daze, Dumont, Desjardins, etc.. forget it..

Mods, please lock this now before it turns into another 1000 post thread. I'd rather have kept Zednik than sign Dumont.

Dumont can score 18 goals in Detroit if they want him. NO DUMONT!

I wouldn't mind Dumont at all, and I certainly wouldn't mind Gagne (even though I think he's really just a 30 goal scorer).

Bergeron, Gagne, Dumont, Daze, Lecavalier...

I'd take Bergeron (the center we've always needed)

I agree and would also take Bergeron over Lecavalier

darn right!!
age is the main factor, of course, and...well, we'd all salivate with Bergeron in a Habs jersey!!
He's so young and/but so, so mature, filled with skills/talent, heart...

Tabarnouche would I love to see him in a Hab jersey!!

(Ryder, Souray and a 1st for Bergeron? ok ok!! no trade talk here!!).

The day I'll hear that Dumont has signed a 1-year contract for less money in order to become a UFA but this time for July 1st, I'll know 2 things....

- He really really wants to come to Montreal
- He knows that the only reason Gainey can't sign him is the timing, the lack of room in the lineup right now.

If anything else happens means either he's not that interested or Gainey is not interested and it has nothing to do with the timing...

'Cause why the drama for 1 year, if Gainey and Dumont love each other, they just have to wait 1 year. It will give us then more time to evaluate our kids, get rid of Bonk and everything will be clearer.....

He really seems to want to. He's willing to take less money to play in Montreal, and the only reason he hasn't accepted any of the offers made to him by other teams so far is that he's hoping the Habs will make him one.

He'll be interviewed by Michel Langevin on CJRC (the Outaouais affiliate to CKAC) tonight.. and you'll probably hear about it later tonight. Seems like he will make his wishes clear.

Bégin's words were used by RDS in a certain way but they showed more of the interview on RIS and Bégin said that it was too late now to get Dumont, that he became a UFA too late and that with the cap now the Habs won't get him. He said that he would have love for him to come to MTL but it wasn't going to happen now.

That's kind of what I've been wondering. They said a few days after he became UFA that he would sign for another team in a few days, and still nothing. It's like he's hoping the Habs will make some room for him.

And maybe they're trying, if only because whatever trade they'd be making under this hypothetical scenario also has a free Dumont coming your way, so it might be possible to improve the team given the right deal.

That said, I'm not expecting anything to happen.

Well if they're trying to make room for him, one would have expected them to make a preliminary offer. TSN reported a few days ago that the Habs haven't made an offer, and Dumont's agent didn't expect them to.
