There's no way he was faking. There's zero reason for him to be faking.

I hope he does come back. Stick him with Hartnell and see if they can bring back the old magic. Put a Leino jersey on Fedotenko or something. If he's on the 3rd/4th line and not seeing the other team's top checking line and number 1 D pair he might be able to produce a little. Seriously.

If his headaches are reduced it means he still has them, just to a lesser extent. Why think about playing on the weekend? It's stupid.

Don't bother playing him. Coat him in bubble wrap, box him up, and store him in that massive warehouse with the Ark of the Covenant until it's buyout time.

No, let's have the doctors check him and if they clear him, use the accelerated buyout to get rid of him now

I imagine they try to get him to waive for a trade first. I don't think they buy him out until they're tired of asking him to waive and hearing "no."

Though maybe that phase has already passed.

Brilliant Danny, just brilliant. You kill every line you're on all season and then get injured for just long enough to miss the trade deadline with an injury that will kill your value in the summer.

You are doing an incredible job of hurting the team as much as possible.

Let him heal until there are only a couple of games left this season, put him back into the lineup to demonstrate that he has fully recovered and finally find a GM who is willing to take his contract for a pick or two in the offseason.

And how do you plan to get Briere to waive in the offseason?

Scenario #1: Briere waives his MNC and gets traded to one of the handful of teams who would value his contract (high cap hit, low salary). He makes $3 million next year, and $2 million the year that follows.

Scenario #2: Briere refuses to waive, knowing that the Flyers have to buy him out. He cashes his check for $3.5 million and then signs with whomever he likes. He makes more money, and gets to choose his destination.

I like the guy but its def. is a huge "coincidence" that he goes from "Briere out with a concussion" on 3/25 to "Headaches have reduced" on April 8th, a mere week after the deadline.

Exactly how bad have these "headaches" been that they suddenly reduced enough that he believes he can go from not skating to full out contact in just two weeks since the onset of symptoms?

Just reeks of BS to me. No idea why he would fake but this one stinks as much as BUMzgolav's Save%.

They could not trade him without his consent. He did not have to fake anything, just say NO.

I'd assume this would be exactly how Holmgren sets it out, hopefully while exploring Brière's trade value with other clubs. On the surface, it would seem to be a catch-22: the only clubs who would be interested in his contract would be cap-floor clubs that aren't enticing from a competition point of view. I wouldn't even fathom a guess what Brière's trade value on his own would be.

I think this train wreck of a season has gotten the best of a lot of you. Faking an injury to dodge trade talks while having an NMC? Come on. Reeks of BS?

What reeks of BS is calling out a professional, classy veteran who's been absolutely destroyed throughout his career.

You people need to find someone else to vilify.

Scenario #3 The Flyers decide not to amnesty Briere as a way of thanking him for what he has done for the Flyers.

dont laugh at that either. The Flyers have done things their own way for decades. Its called the loyalty card.

Except Briere would be better off financially by being bought out by the Flyers then signing elsewhere.

The guy has done alot of good for this organization. I get that you all want him bought out but the hate for Danny Briere is just uncalled for. The things being said in this thread make me sick

He had some good goals, but you act like he was the savior for this club. The team owes him a paycheck, that's it.

The hate is because he has sucked for two years, ruined every line he was put on and got hurt a trade DL. I will loathe Briere if he doesn't get healthy enough to be bought out.

If the things in this thread (he's a faker) make you sick than you should just stay off the internet. The dude got paid $6.5mill/yr (average) and he is literally sinking the team.

The team owes the fans, not Briere.

This fanbase is very bipolar.

Remember when everyone wanted to trade Hartnell for a bag of pucks two years ago?
The next season he put up 37 goals and everyone wanted him resigned. And now he sucks again (after getting hurt and missing for a month, but who cares?).

Maybe Briere can find the right response and bounce back next season...
