Regier was SO tempted to say "around the hip area" but then paused and said "upper body"

Definitely a hip if i'm a betting man

Maybe not. Rolston is adamant that its not hip related.

I think Leino is made out of glass It isn't that bad for a better draft positioning, though.

Are they dead or something? A time-table would be nice.

Leino should probably call it a season. Whatever his actual issue it seems chronic and could probably use extended rest at a minimum.

Patrick Kaleta left the game in the second period with an upper body, and did not return. He finished the night with 6:37 of ice time in nine shifts. There was no further update on Kaleta’s condition following the game.

Tyler Myers season ends with a broken leg. WHat a horrible year for this guy. He did make a lot of money, but my goodness.

Buffalo Sabres ‏@BuffaloSabres 3m
#Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers suffered a broken bone in his leg during Thursday’s game and will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season.

WTF, seriously, another broken bone to end a season for Tyler? Let me guess, another slow start for next year.

Leino has a "serious" but not "major" lung injury.

Paul Hamilton seems to think this is a collapsed lung. He said he asked Leino directly if he had a collapsed lung and Ville said "NO".

Paul then recently discussed this with Rolston and he said "yes, he did have a problem with his lung" but didn't really confirm it was a collapsed lung per se.

I find all of this interesting. I wonder if it will impact how the Sabres deal with Leino rolling forward. Like he does seem to be injury prone, if there is such a thing (and there really DOES seem to be such a thing in sports, even though it doesn't really make sense).

Better late than never. They should have done it during the lockout/offseason however.

With Leino ending the season on IR, can he still be an amnesty casualty. I know there is some clause in the new CBA that doesn't allow amnesties on injured players. Do they have to pass a physical or something? Do you amnesty him over somebody like Stafford because he is injury prone

Can't buy out a player on IR.

And I refuse to believe we couldn't get something for Stafford. Buying him out seems dumb.

Not to derail the thread.

Yeah. I realized I was dumb shortly after I posted it. Hopefully Leino's surgery goes well. With it, he either gets healthy enough next year so we can amnesty next summer or plays up to his contract and we have a future Finnish connection with him and Armia(plus Barkov but that's just wishful thinking). If he is oft-injured, however, I just don't want that contract in any form on our books when we are trying to resign our younger core to new contracts. Based off of O'Reilly and Skinner's contracts, we are going to need all the cap room we can get.
