JML-O'Byrne pairing has been tremendous this far.

Evident that they have chemistry from the past.

Give us a call in a year if you still like him, the honeymoon phase was excellent with us as well. Eventually the relationship got stale.

93-94 Leafs had Macoun, Rouse, Lefebvre, and Gill. O'Byrne is of their ilk.

I doubt he'll be playing 19 minutes in a year and he'll be used in a more effective manner. Colorado didn't have the depth on D to keep him in a more comfortable role.

Defensemen on bad teams often look much worse than they actually are.

We likely wont have him. Need him to play well for 9 more games and however many playoff games the Leafs are in if they make it.

Its a great trade for all three parties. Colorado probably wasnt going to re-sign him so they got a pick for him. O'Byrne probably was not going to re-sign so he goes to a team where all he has to be is a 5th or 6th guy which would improve his stock. The Leafs needed a defensive defensemen to play on the bottom pairing; something they did not have since Schenn was traded and Komi is wanted around.

These are the rentals that make sense. Not giving up a lot on a player who is in a contract year. Putting him in a situation where he should do well and not mess up. Its on him to make the most of it to prove he deserves a better contract.

Good trade for everyone.

Probably end up like the Steckel trade. People will bash him because he played poorly on a bad team, but when played in a sheltered role on a good team he'll find a niche.

Toronto has made Mark Fraser look like a stud this year. ROB will do fine if you have realistic expectations.

In doing so he has doubled his career high for goals in a season I don't think anyone is going to look to hard at this goal being anything more than an annomoly.

Nothing wrong with what he said

O'Byrne has a really solid game today, we'll have to see if he can continue this level of play.

He might not even be with the Leafs after this year.

He was brought in to be a depth D...and so far he looks like an NHL'er.

He actually covered up 1-2 mistakes Liles made tonight.

O'Byrne and Liles had great chemistry 2 years ago. Very happy to see ROB have a good game tonight.

But was he though? Was he the only reason the team is bad right now? I doubt it.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here

Ofc he would score a goal, seemingly every player that's been traded this year has scored one right away

From the Habs point of view, it's really weird to see that O'Byrne is getting icetime while Komisarek is not even in uniform. During their time in Montreal, O'Byrne was nothing more than a pale copy of Komisarek.

Komisarek was a pylon with skills, but O'Byrne was a pylon, period.

It's hard to understand what happened to Komi...

He takes bad penalties on a team that (prior to this year) couldn't kill penalties to save their lives. Oh and he couldn't kill penalties. Everything else is the same. He's still a physical presence, he still standups up for his teammates, but he is still a pylon.

I'm glad he's gone. We got 4th out of it, so even better. If we want to succeed we need better players than O'Byrne playing in our top-6. He might be good depth guy like #7-#8, but not for top-6 role.

So I guess it's win-win-win situation. Everyone wins.
