Technically they gave him a timeline of early April....but whatever...

By the way I was joking and don't actually think Heatley is trying to avoid being bought out....so....we done...?

Didn't realize I would offend one of the few Heater fans left in town. Hopefully he is back in their line-up by July so if they do buy him out his fall from grace is only that much sweeter!

There are some serious tanking skills within that organization. Even with Brian Elliott gone, Sherman and Sacco find a way. Gotta love dem clowns.

What's their excuse this year?

Apparently they are too busy planning for the summer. Just goes to show you the difference between organizations that buy into the "we're young and struggling is normal" (Edmonton/Colorado) and teams that work hard despite their youth to find a way to win.

Colorado is a joke, seriously it's almost on the level of Edmonton

The Mars Volchenkov jumped ship to a sinking one.

Deep down it killed him seeing Anderson play out of his mind for us. He kept saying how Anderson "quit" on the Avalanche. Seeing how the O'Reilly situation unfolded, and now this Giguerre talk, it's obvious his team is run by idiots.

Remember when he said the Avalanche were set up better for success than the Sens?

To be fair to them, they have some wonderful pieces. Just need someone like Maclean to round them all together. Also Landeskog needs to take charge of the dressing room more. I know he is very young, but he's also the captain, you can't have guys quitting under your leadership.

Edmonton/Colorado/NYI don't understand the benefits of strong leadership.

You can go young and succeed if you have strong vets on D, F, and G.

If you don't well... edmonton

There's only so much the players can do when management is this incompetent

I don't think the Islanders are in that discussion anymore. Streit on D, Nabokov in goal and a very mature Tavares leading the forwards is a pretty good leadership core IMO.

Ultimately, the major deals Sherman have made in Johnson, Varlamov, and Elliott/Andersson have been largely failures. Making a teenager their captain was just as foolish. It's baffling to see so much young talent stagnate and waste away in Denver. Every member of their front office needs to be escorted out of their head office immediately. Don't let them make any more franchise defining decisions at the draft.

Edit: oh yeah and not accepting compensation for O'Rielly might end up as their worst failure in a couple years.

That's probably the best case scenario for an own goal. It's not like he directly slap shotted into his own net. Bounced off a board, and slid across the ice with the net empty.

See Bouillon for something to be embarassed about.

I thought it was going wide, but what I thought was the puck was actually a spot on my screen.

Yeah, Emery's playing some fantastic hockey right now. Who knew he would be the answer to Chicago's goalie problems?
