I'll second this. If there's any way you can trade up, or if he falls to us, you have to draft Barkov.

The kid is good. I ve seen highlights and game play and he may be theist dynamic player to come through since Paul Kayria(not comparing him to Paul but just trying to give a base line). But with that being said he is 18 years old. We have been a team that is known for defense and developing great defenseive players and we will probably be known for that until changes are made throughout the organization. There is nothing wrong with defense though, you can still win with that methodolgy, but you have to have offense to go with it and I believe that Filip can bring just that little bit of offensive skill that this team has so desperatly needed

Forsberg just scared the crap out of me tripping a Latvian. Just threw his body at the skates of the guy... Glad he wasn't cut up!

Not bad he handled the puck well, I did see him get knocked off the puck a couple times but then again he is only 18 playing on the national team

It isn't necessarily foot speed that matters. Is he strong on his skates? Is he strong with the puck? Does he skate well despite a lack of top end speed?

Think back to Peter Forsberg - Not a overly fast skater, but he was one of the strongest skaters in the world.

As for the draft this year, I think it is very likely we end up with the 10th overall pick. This is likely defensemen range. However, I think you are in perfect position to dangle a player/pick to move up into the top 5. A LOT of teams are in need of defensemen at the top of this draft. Colorado comes to mind. There are many others.

Forsberg is ready for nhl tbh, perhaps not playoff but still pretty ready for nhl from what i've seen. (seen him live quite a bit). he's so underrated (yes even with all hype). expect the best really.

He didn't look too quick, but he was quick enough. He lost a couple of board battles but that's to be expected as he is only 18. But you can tell he has that elite offensive potential because whenever he is in possession of the puck he gets past people and makes things happen. He also has a really nice shot. I've seen some people make tentative comparisons to Corey Perry and I wouldn't totally say that's true but he certainly has a Perry-like wrist shot.

Were pretty sure his talent level is above any we have ever had as a rookie but caution is warranted. Heck he could come here and have 40 goals and 40 assists or 15 goals and 20 assists. What the staff and fans both need to do is not place unrealistic expectations on a kid that young. But with that said most on this board will accept nothing but FF on the 1st line with Borque and Wilson.
Bourque is not first line talent. Wilson and FF I can see but definitely not bourque.
Perhaps beck someday soon or if we can draft a very good forward high in this draft, which looks like it may be a reality! Keep on losing and forget this season preds!

Forsberg was released from the National team today, so he's free to go to North America.

I know this is great for the Predators, but for those of us who are ignorant of how the Swedish national hockey team works, why would they release him after yesterday's solid outing?

Was it just the one exhibition game against Latvia?

If I am mistaken he was only suppose to play the exhibition game

He was supposed to play the two games against Latvia nothing more. He came in with short notice to replace William Karlsson who was injured. In all honesty he would never been given a chance to stay despite his good effort in both games. Heck I doubt he would stay if he had scored a hat trick.
